I was on vacation. My grandparents had a pool, so I asked them if I could spend a few days there with them, relaxing. They said they were tired, not doing well, and wouldn't mind a quick day visit, but otherwise, they couldn't manage a longer stay

I would need a PHD to analyze this! An enjoyable walk through, nonetheless.

Hehe ... course, knowing me as I do (partially even then) the key issues seemed pretty glaring to me. Oddly enough, they weren't altogether apparent until I wrote the dream down. Maybe I should start doing dreamwork -- even though I SUFFERED through it the only time I've tried it before. It would dovetail with the reading on shamanism I am doing now, anyway.
