At some point, box sets went off the map of my imagination. I really didn't know they were being made anymore. But I've also not yet really gotten into the mp3/IPod thing; I like what someone else has thoughtfully collected, conceived and constructed as a whole. I still have a nostalgia for the album, the mix tape ... and -- evidently -- the box

most all of my box sets are band-specific, but i've drooled over that left of the dial one at friend's places before. it has some really cool stuff that isn't so easily available elsewhere.

i've also heard a lot of buzz around the brit box lately too. anything that sequences the boo radleys and saint etienne together has got to be great!

You're not alone. I don't own an ipod either (can't stand sticking stuff in my ears.) Box sets are still great. Thinking I might even try to get a piece of equipment that will allow me to digitize all my old vinyl.

you don't need to stick stuff in your ears to have an ipod...I've had mine for nearly three years and have yet to stick the headphones on it.
I either: a. use a cassette adapter to listen to it in the car, or hook it up to mini speakers in the living room (computer's in the dining room).
I guess that makes sense to me since I'm in my car more than I'm anywhere else...
Sharper Image has the vinyl digitization turntable and software...couple hundred bucks...not sure how much it would be in a "real" store, but probably much cheaper...

I've had my eye on that turntable for awhile now. My cellphone (Razr) is an mp3 player which I occasionally use with bluetooth headset when I go running. Although I've purchased iPods for my nephews and nieces, I've never been an Apple fan.
