For kicks I was browsing the toy section and I saw something that just made me stare, turns out there's already a Transformer called Landmine. So my OC is now nameless because I refuse to use an official name for any of my characters. Can I just say frag? Not only is the name already taken, but it belongs to an Autobot. *huffs* Nonetheless, I ( Read more... )

Do you require assistance in re-naming your OC? I'm...actually pretty terrible in that region, but anything to help.

Your offer is greatly appreciated and completely unexpected, yet I think I've already got one.

How does the name Minefield feel?

Mn, a little intimidating (could be a good thing), but not so scary as to sound inherently Decepticon, and definitely fitting of a tough-as-all-get-out mech, or at least, a mech with a tough-as-all-get-out job.

Thanks for considering my assistance. That means a lot to me.

Well, like I mentioned to the other. You guys gave me warm fuzzies with your offers.

*offers help, too* Any particular characteristics or traits should be kept in mind for naming him? That name always did reminded me of Undermine, who happens to be a Decepticon dinosaur. The profile looks great, the difference between them, and the glower on your OCs face, is amusing me far too much.

The only toys I have are all beast warriors, and I never really thought of what my head characters may think of them. Though I was hoping to add a giant Unicron to my collection at Christmas, but well, money has to go to more important things, like dog food.

Of all the fandoms I've ever been a part of, transfans are among the nicest. I don't normally get them but you two gave me the warm fuzzies. Wanting to keep it similar I think I might go with Minefield. What do you think, same feel?

*really needs to buckle down and learn about the various transformers with dinosaur alt modes* He is so cool, I love that four arm thing he has going.

*grins stupidly over compliments* If anything, he should even taller. But that would have messed up the image and have really made the Autobot look outmatched.

Ooooh I saw him, but he was too rich for my tastes. Money spent on pets is certainly a priority to something like that.

I think Minefield is actually much better than Landmine, maybe it's a good thing you saw the toy. The name just seems so much more *gestures vaguely* better, tougher, more Decepticon like? To me it conjures up the image of someone in a harmless looking field, however, the person knows that buried somewhere under the soil are a multitude of mines, and the very next step they take, in any direction, could be their last, so their every moment in the area is rife with stress, uncertainty and a little bit of paranoia. So, uh, ya, that's my impression.

Oh, and a good way to make sure any of your OCs don't share a name with a canon character is to search the TF Wiki.

Undermine is a great toy, especially since he was only $5. And now I really want to build an army of him, painting him up in Alien colors and start calling the original one either My Queen, or Pretty Pretty Unicron Dino Boy. It's the ramming horn that makes me call him that last one, I swear it. It also makes me want to dress him up in sparkles, pink paint and other assorted ( ... )

Ominous is the word I think you may be looking for. I'm happier with the new name as well (it fits his movieverse origins better too). Before I couldn't get a clear idea of his personality and now he's talking and letting me into his head. So... yeah. (TF Wiki here I come!)

Pfffft! You really are my own personal bunny farm. The desire to create TF:A versions of my guys is stronger than ever now, but I have so many pictures and projects I want to finish up it'd be weeks before I'm even close to being done with them all. [*sigh* the artists dilemma] You also gave me an Undermine bunny that I'm kinda afraid of ( ... )

I have that toy, it actually has a fairly clever transformation scheme in which the seats turn into remarkably posable claw-hands.

Granted, I bought it to cut it apart, paint it orange, and turn it into Speed Buggy >.>

It is a good toy. I was just ranting because coming up with names is something that takes far too friggin long and is no where near easy for me to do. Usually I have to wait for the character to tell me their name and some of them can be very stubborn about it. Case in point I have a lawnmower TF OC that's been lounging about in my head for over a year and he still won't let me know his name.

Pffff, Speed Buggy. I forgot all about that cartoon.
