I read through your entry to I go to the subject of my expertize, lower GI testing. What is this fasting 24 hour nonsense? Yes you can do that but if you use Colase, or cholase or however you spell it you just fast the evening before, drink a gallon of vile plastic, and purge for about 3 hours or so. Now that is not fun but I always choose it over the alternative. The actual test is usually nothing but once it hurt. I don't know why. I usually just have fun watching the the barium work its way through my intestine.

Wow I haven't talked about my intestines in ages ☺

She was intimidated by the prospect of drinking that gallon of gunk, so she chose the pills. She had trouble enough choking down 20 pills in 1 hour, and she hated drinking all the fluid they wanted her to drink, so I do think the gallon would have been a bit much for her.

It might not be for me though - I'm a heavy drinker. ;-) So maybe I'll consider that option, if it cuts out 12 hours of fasting. The fasting intimidates me more than the glugging, because if I get hungry that often precipitates a migraine.

She was also knocked out for the test, so she couldn't watch anything. I'm not sure it's the same test that you have, because I don't think barium was involved - I think they used air to dilate, and then internal cameras. Fun stuff all around.

I hope the flooding isn't too bad in your area...

t was delayed at least another hour.

Yup but the flight was only about 1 hour because we had the wind with us :)

Since we talked about the new John Gorka album this is from the new RHR newsletter:

"Hi, Red House supporters! I'm excited to report that John Gorka's new album "Writing in the Margins" comes out on July 11th but is now available for purchase on our website at http://www.redhouserecords.com! This is one of John's best albums in years--catchy and poignant, mixing folk, country and soul sounds. It features stunning harmony vocals by Nanci Griffith and Lucy Kaplansky and some pretty outstanding covers of Townes Van Zandt's "Snow Don't Fall" and Stan Rogers' "The Lockkeeper." ]

So no problem purchasing it at FRFF :)

I haven't heard of any major flooding in this immediate area, although some areas of the city near the rivers were very problematic. Most of the other regional problems seemed to be in the counties north and west of here, as water wending down from the mountains overflowed the rivers and streams. I guess we're just high enough above sea level here, and just far enough from the waterways, that the water didn't make a huge impact here.

We tend to have worse flooding problems when there's a lot of fast-falling rain, because the paving-heavy ground can't absorb it as quickly as it falls, so there's a lot of runoff that winds up in basements and on roadways. The rain of the past week or so was mostly slow and steady, so that was, in a sense, better for densely-paved towns - as long as they aren't low-lying.
