I heard a heart breaking story on All Things Considered this evening about a couple who found the their son dead in the rubble of their apartment with the bodies of his grand parents. I really needed to see this picture.

We read these huge numbers and it's hard to comprehend, but when one story is focused on we can see the truth behind the numbers. All the reports of numbers of deaths in Iraq pale beside one story about a dead Marine's family, or an Iraqi father crying over his daughter's body. Nature holds enough tragedy for us humans, why do we have to add to it with our "wars of choice"?
