Rand Paul: not his father. He does not seem to have a fully realized philosophical foundation for his positions. He keeps his finger in the wind more than his father. I don't like his militaristic streak. Everyone says he has to pander that way to win in Kentucky. Maybe, but his dad wins in Texas, goddammit. I think he was absolutely right on private discrimination, but then he ended up waffling. That gained him no friends among progressives and disappointed libertarians. I still think he could do some creative chaos in the senate. I'd love to see him and Peter Schiff in there, but I don't think Schiff has a chance.
As to the BP kerfuffle, other people have covered that way better than me.
