That'll be enough of this. I'm working on an explanation, but it may be some time before I get it done. In the meantime, keep your eyes to East and your ears open.

abulafia, qabalah, in the works

Short version: it is a little small excerpt from a meditation technique expounded by Abraham Abulafia involving permutations of the Tetragrammaton with certain vowel sounds. I have been trying to adapt the information I've been able to find out about it into a workable routine for a novice such as myself. I'm still trying to make sense of some of what I've found. There are some seeming contradictions in some of the sources that I'm trying to reconcile before I inflict my ignorance on other people.

Yeah, I went back and read it again. This really stood out:

Abulafia teaches that, by using his methods of letter permutation, meditation, and free association, you can receive prophecy today. This can be a radically destabilizing notion. What if your prophecy contradicts the revealed word of God? What if the Active Intellect reveals to you something which goes against halacha, or conventional interpretations of Scripture? If prophecy is truly available to everyone, then the authority of those with privileged access to the Divine... is undermined.

What he was doing represents a threat to all dogmatic "past based" spiritual and religious systems, not just Judaism. It is a generic threat to hierarchy.
