The really sad thing is, people have been saying this since the immediate aftermath of 9/11, yet we're still digging ourselves in deeper.

This is like recounting the allied costs and casualties in WWII and claiming the Axis powers must be loving it.

Well, if the Allies had been making no progress and were outspending the Axis by a factor off 100 while their economy was collapsing I'm sure they would have loved it.
