Sometimes I wish the old Soviet Union was still around so assclowns like this wouldn't insult liberals by comparing them to the Communists, who really did want to take over the world in a violent revolution and were at least honest about it. Any argument that Islam wants to take over the world would logically apply just as well to Christianity, and with 2 billion (nominal) Christians the latter seems to be doing a better job than the former.

I heard about this book, 'Unwind' or something, which is your standard dystopic future, this time caused because a civil war broke out over the pro-choice/pro-life debate. The ultimate solution, that both sides agreed on, was that while all birth control and abortion would be made illegal, parents would have the option of sending their child to be 'unwound' between the ages of 13 and 18. It was basically a process of dicing them up for organ donation (or giving a new arm to someone who lost theirs or whatever) the entire body was used, so technically the child still lived, making the pro-lifers happy.

I couldn't get past the fact that anyone found the concept plausible, because it seems like the most freaking stupid solution that neither side would agree to.

The fact that even one person in the real world thinks it's a viable solution makes my brain hurt.

I think it all comes down to one thing, really: there is nothing that these hypocritical fucks will not justify to themselves. Not a single thing.

Technically, this is somewhat less hypocritical than others -- he's supporting the batshit crazy parts of the bible instead of just pointing to the bible as a reason to shoot down same-sex marriage. Though, strictly speaking, the child is supposed to be killed by their own parents, so he should be proposing that it be made legal for parents to kill their own children for rebelling rather than suggesting the government take over.

I just wish that there were more bible-thumpers who focused on the bits where Jesus told 'em to avoid slut-shaming and be nice to people.
