The checkerboard of nights and days -

Jun 12, 2010 20:58

I've gone back home to my parents for summer. Finally. Exams was a even bigger bitch than usual, but that's all over now ^____^ On the other hand, ten weeks is quite a long time to live with my parents in this the most boring corner of an already boring country. I'm going to miss my room and my tiny, tiny bathroom and the people I live with and the ( Read more... )

You are right, it is no fun :p And I'll only get to see my boyfriend if he comes here to visit, which is rather scary too. Because my family is not normal oO

Thanks again for the recs <3 I'd like to read lots and lots this summer. I feel like I need to make up for the rest of the year lol

Heh how boring would life be if everyone was normal?

LOL I love that you noticed :D
It's time the Doctor got some love too! I really wanted a Torchwood icon as well, and something sci fi-y, but I haven't done any icon browsing in ages and didn't have any :( And deciding which old ones need to go is not easy I tell you :S

Fluffy chickens and free cake? What more could anyone want in a job? xD

If you think it's boring, do you want to swap for a while? I could do with a change of scenery. :p My family are easy to live with - they're not usually home, and short of the risk of starving to death because mum's gotten distracted and forgotten to go shopping, it's a good life. Then I get to check out your corner of the world, and you get to see new horizons.

...sorry, I was awake for too long last night, obviously it's had an adverse impact on my mental function.

Hmm, books. Ok. You may have already ready them, but I would recommend Luck In The Shadows by Lynn Flewelling (excellent, fun fantasy with gorgeous main characters and canon boylove, if you're into that), The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova (A Dracula-themed historical fiction novel that made me desperately want to go to Istanbul), The Lies of Locke Lamora (plain awesome), The Gargoyle by Andrew Davidson (I think :p), and The Secret History by Donna Tartt (which might be my favourite novel ever ( ... )

Yeah, butterflygirl_3 beat me to it on a couple of them. This is what happens when she and I have the same taste in books. :p

Heheh I'm in! I'd love to go live somewhere else for a while. And I have already spent a whole year starvng on Sundays because I forgot to plan ahead and buy dinner. You see, Norway was once such a good Christian country it decided to follow the Bible and shut everything down on Sundays. And somehow that stuck with us. So if you don't buy enough food on Saturday, you will have to eat bread and old fish sticks on Sunday.
So yeah, I think I can live with your mother :P

I have head of most of those books, but not read any of them. Yet. The Lies of Locke Lamora has been on my to-read list for ages, simply because it's such an intriguing and beautiful name :P Yep, I also sometimes choose my books based on how pretty their covers are.
Thanks for the recs :D
