Ragnelle is preparing to leave. She's doing it in her subtle way, by preparing extra herb mixes to leave behind and willing more strength into the foundations of the house and warmth into the beds. She's doing it by seeking out the people she knows and having conversations that are secretly farewells ( Read more... )

Laurel has no magical talent whatsoever, (which always ensured that Morgause and Clar had little use for her) but even she can sense something changing a little in the house. Maybe it's just the people, rather than the magic.

She's baking bread; it's one of the chores she always found pleasure in, and she's finally convinced the house elf to let her do it. But she certainly wouldn't reject conversation, should Ragnelle come through.

Gawain is singing as he chops dead wood into pieces for the stove. The use of only fallen wood is a concession he's always been more than ready to make for his lady - especially as there is so little wood to be found on Orkney, and he'd never grown use to the extravagant use of it at his uncle's court.

Ragnelle has always thanked him for it. Now she comes out to him and interrupts him, as it were, by singing counterpoint to his song.

Gawain looks up and beams. "My lady!"
