Skills swap. Totally. Next time we share kid space at either house, I'm happy roll out a craft project for them. If you want to bake with Henry he'll love you for ever!
Don't beat yourself up about it. If you have even some well planned, well executed days then you're doing better than the majority of us. And what really matters is that you give him your time and love - even if you feel relief when you shut the door on him at night. I think that happens to most of us to a greater or lesser extent - it doesn't make us bad parents (I hope!).
And "time consuming tedium of creating so much chaos" - what a perfect and picturesque way to sum up looking after a little one.
Although I meant that phrase about the baking specifically, now you've pointed it out, it does sum up a goodly portion of child care. I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels that way.
I did read something about raising kids the other day that really touched me. "The days are long, but the years are short". So true.

I did read something about raising kids the other day that really touched me. "The days are long, but the years are short". So true.
