The best museum restaurant I know (Ok, I haven't eaten in that many museum restaurants, but this one I just had to) is the Native Foods Cafeteria at the Smithsonian Museum of the American Indian. All the food is based on traditional foods of various areas (Northwest Coast, Southwest, etc), organically grown/raised, and fancy-chef-type-restaurant-quality. Since it's cafeteria style, you can have a little bit of this and a little bit of that. You could have a very reasonably priced lunch, or you could do what I did and go wild and spend more money on one session of stuffing myself than on anything else I did on my trip to DC (heck, most of the museums are free, and I was staying with a friend), and then come back the next day and do it again! And you don't end up with that "why on earth did I have to eat that?" feeling you get after overdoing it at an ordinary buffet - even having eaten way too much, I still felt great. The food is just that good - no regrets ( ... )
