nothing

"As a broken promise returns too late
Another sunset meets an argument.
Fade out of nowhere, into nothing, into nothing at all.
How did my love turn into something that you don't really want?"

I know a couple who went through this. And I admire them both greatly, and I admire their relationship. There was true forgiveness, and their relationship is strong. There is committment, and there is trust and a lot, a lot of love. Something that I've never asked the betrayed is, "how? how do you let it go and not bring it up during every fight and disagreement? how do you truly forgive?"

I think I could forgive my husband of almost anything, including this...but how do you truly let it go?

Your writing here is fantastic. I feel both of their pain. I can see both sides of the story so well.

For him to totally and completely recognise the level of betrayal that has crawled in and settled among his bones.

"I'm not sure whether I love you enough anymore. Whether I love you enough to get past this."

This is major. A breach of trust can change your opinion and feelings.

"I'm not sure whether I love you enough anymore. Whether I love you enough to get past this."

Wow! I didn't expect that reaction. But yet, it's so real.

You describe this so well. Luke babbling on and on about how he feels, just trying to keep the lines of communication open, just saying everything and anything because there is nothing to say to make it better. Just hoping that by sheer volume of comment, he could get those feelings of guilt across.

And Reid, finally having enough of just shaking his head at the insanity that they are even in this position, to finally crack and want it all to go away. He's at the anger stage and he needs to make Luke walk through fire before he can begin to trust him again.

He'll see that he still loves Luke just as much as before, because he wouldn't put up with this pain in his chest otherwise.
