They seem rather normal to me, considering the situations one comes across here.

It's not like most of the people here are used to dealing with monsters, or under the conditions they find themselves in here. Also, those who are familiar usually have any abilities they may have, that makes dealing with monsters restricted.

So considering we live in a lawless land, are used like lab rats and for the most part don't know whats going on, I think they're doing rather decently. Could they do better? Of course, but everyone and everything could always do better.
