I agree that outside statements might be behind it, but like you say, it's pretty obvious in the text. She was in love with him in S6 (as she slips in S7, this is undeniably canon). She was obviously in denial about it and remained so until the First took him, but after that it's so obvious even her friends tacitly accept it.
I wouldn't say she was in love with him when they started sleeping together, but heavy feelings were definitely there. I don't get how it's arguable. To me it's right up there with people who still argue Spike went to get his chip out.
