Oh hi

December is: cookies in the oven, laundry in the machine, way too many pills to take every day (because multivitamin and calcium supplements also), and basically, my insurance has already paid for itself because my new prescription would have cost $1,800 a month without it. December is Snow Wars, real and virtual, new dragons on Dragoncave, a ( Read more... )

... I haven't watched any of Elementary yet despite Lucy Liu... apparently there's only so long I can be bothered with shows based on reveling in how horribly codependent and bad for each other the characters areOh my word, get thee to Elementary RIGHT NOW, because that is one of the things I love best about it: the show is the absolute opposite of this trope. Everything that makes me grind my teeth about Holmes and Watson's unequal, mutually unhealthy relationship in SHERLOCK is subverted or outright contradicted in Elementary. Joan Watson is having none of Sherlock's crap, in the best and smartest (and often dryly funniest) kind of way, and Sherlock is a train wreck of a human being who does NOT get away with it by virtue of being brilliant; everybody calls him on it and expects him to do better, even though they appreciate the good things he does as well ( ... )

Hey, I was coming to say the same thing!

And what I love about Elementary is that it's not just Joan and Sherlock being horribly codependent and bad for each other. They have their mutual interdependence, but they also rely on and respect the supporting cast to a much higher degree than BBC Sherlock and Watson.

IN CONCLUSION, Martin Freeman is terrible.

Great minds, etc!

That sounds good. I'm glad to hear that. The supporting cast has sounded pretty interesting.

And yeah, alas, he is. >(

I hope I haven't just turned into that person who goes, "Didn't you like Farscape/Firefly/BSG? Are you sure you watched it properly? You should watch it again!" 'Cos I hate that person.

WENS!!! *giant tacklehug* Delighted to see you!

It was a Hobbit-related rape joke. (Of all words that should not be in anywhere remotely near the same sentence.) "I am extremely disappointed" is understating it.

<3! They mostly have! I'm trying to balance work and.... anything non-work, given a long commute. Having a day off in the middle of the week is going to really help.

Even aside from how incredibly uncomfortable I'd feel being anywhere in the vicinity of anyone who suggested rape was all in good fun (that is a FLAMES ON THE SIDE OF MY FACE subject and I will go no further atm), the Hobbit connection is a personal point of grief for me -- the man's still a near-note-perfect Bilbo, and as I've said innumerable times online and off, I'd been waiting for this Bilbo to exist on screen since I was seven. And apparently this is what kind of a guy Freeman thinks he is. Nopenopenope.
