::laughs:: Catching up the memeage? And I am... an old-school X-Men fan, who hates the current comics.

Yep! And I think I would be too, if I ever managed to read enough of them to get an idea of the canon. Wikipedia and such just aren't the same.

You can get the good storylines in trade paperback form now. The Phoenix Saga and the like, and X-Men's greatest stories.

Hee, two other people have tagged me on that favourite-own-fics meme, and I've done it already! I will try to dig up the link at some point. Or, better yet, write five new favourites! ;)

But I have taken this as an opportunity to go back and re-read your fics, and... well, have I ever told you how much I admire your writing? If I haven't, I should have done so a long, long time ago. You're one of the names I'll bring up again and again whenever I need reminding that, yes, it is possible to do amazing things with these characters and places and ideas, in new and brilliant ways. And there is always a little part of me that goes "Gee, I'd better step up my game if I ever want to write like that." And it's a great feeling. So, um. Thank you! :)

'It was interesting that the story began to coalesce when I stopped thinking about the characters as Cyclops and Wolverine and started thinking about them as Logan and Scott.'That's what happens. *nodnod* I can't speak to the new comics or the movies, but in the glory days (1975-1991 - Chris Claremont's run), X-Men was always about people and personal relationships, and about humanity and being different and... just character development in general. Lots of it. There is nothing better for a comic than being written for fifteen years by the same man whose overwhelming interest is in "who are these characters as people and how do they get along, or not get along ( ... )
