The Doctor sat up, eyes wild and bones stiff. "Not again," he muttered, flexing wrinkled hands and wincing at the ominous arthritic twinges. Explosion, blackout, waking up suddenly old... the conclusion was inescapable.
"Back again? Brilliant!" A maddeningly young set of hands helped him up. "Don't worry, you're fine, same deal as the other times, reality's still running a bit thin but I've got the answer now. All awake? You don't want to miss this...."
Tottering to the console, his elder self nattering at his elbow, the Doctor reflected that once was all very well, but this? ..was pushing it.
