BYAKUYA KUCHIKI
A captain in the Gotei 13. Byakuya is obnoxiously dedicated to rules and regulations. While he is quite strong, particularly for his age, it's still rather amusing when he swings his weight around and attempts to be intimidating. This works on some people, but it reminds Aizen of a cat trying to scare people by puffing up and hissing. He's unimpressed. He also has little opinion on Byakuya, aside from that.

relationship: a former "comrade" in the gotei 13; uninteresting.
feelings: □
a child with a loud bark, very little bite, and no respect for his betters.

GIN ICHIMARU
Gin is Aizen's proverbial right hand man... right out of a story where your right hand has a mind of its own and tries to strangle you in your sleep. Though he puts up a convincing front as a loyalist, Aizen is very aware that Gin is plotting his murder, though he isn't entirely clear on the reason. He does suspect it has something to do with Rangiku Matsumoto, Gin's former best friend. Aizen keeps Gin around for a number of reasons - he likes to keep his enemies close, for one thing, and Gin can be trusted to obey Aizen's orders absolutely... until he gets around to completing his murder attempt, for another. However, the primary reason is that Aizen's attempt to evolve himself beyond the confines of shinigami and hollow can only be completed through the emotion of genuine fear... and Aizen fears very little, really, aside from death. For that reason, he lets Gin believe he is ignorant, and he lets Gin contemplate his murder in the hopes that the attempt, whenever it comes, will be sufficiently dangerous and interesting to put the fear of mortality into him and thus complete his evolution.

It's difficult to assess whether Aizen genuinely likes Gin despite his treacherous intention, but it's fair to say he enjoys having him around for whatever reason.

relationship: lieutenant and future traitor.
feelings: ■■■/□□
it seems to be my nature to surround myself with traitors. ah well. it does make life more interesting.

ICHIGO KUROSAKI
Ichigo is the son of a shinigami captain and a human woman, currently in possession of shinigami powers of his own that he can only activate through separating from his body. On top of that, he is also part hollow. Considering all of that, is he a human, a shinigami or a Hollow? What a fascinating question with absolutely no sufficient answer. This ambiguity marks the beginnings of Aizen's interest in this boy. Due to his heritage, as well as the oceans of untapped spiritual power the boy possessed, Aizen watched his development from birth and arranged for his life to play out just so, putting Ichigo in the position where he would be forced to access, develop and improve his own power. In part, he did this simply to see what would happen, and in part because he recognized in Ichigo someone who might, in time, be able to see the world as Aizen himself did. With that in mind, he repeatedly spared Ichigo's life, despite many chances to kill him.

Aizen has frequently found himself frustrated by Ichigo's rate of advancement, which he believes could be even quicker than the already almost unnatural rate of growth Kurosaki currently displays. Even so, the boy's exploits and determination, his refusal to bow even in an impossible situation and his ability to overcome the unconquerable have been endlessly fascinating to Aizen. You might say he is fond of the boy, though it is in a distinctly distant way - almost the way a scientist becomes fond of the rats he drops in a maze. However, in this case Aizen does see the potential for the rat to outgrow said maze and join the scientist in the real world. If he didn't, he wouldn't find Ichigo's life so absorbing. And while it's a bit irritating when this boy ruins Aizen's plans, at the same time it's rather enjoyable.

Aizen will often behave/speak to Ichigo in a dismissive manner; however in truth, when it comes to Ichigo, he is anything but dismissive. He will often be patronizing as well... and he actually is patronizing, though in this specific case, his lectures and philosophizing often serve the (stealth) dual purpose of... well. It's hard to call it mentorship, but it's definitely pedantic.

relationship: ryoka boy; shinigami, human, visored. a specimen and potential peer. aizen's favorite subject for study.
feelings: ■■■■/□□
i once said he was quite interesting for a human, but that was a lie. really, he is interesting for any species. it's fortunate, since he belongs to three.

KAIEN SHIBA
A ridiculous man who served as Jyuushiro's lieutenant until one of Aizen's science experiments killed first his wife and then him. Oops. Aizen doesn't really care about him, aside from being interested in the fact that he's meant to be dead and yet somehow isn't. He does find it fairly amusing to poke his buttons and make him angry, since he's rather blandly pollyannaish in Aizen's personal opinion.

relationship: the lieutenant of a former "friend."
feelings: □
oh dear. didn't i inadvertently kill you? it's very unseemly for the dead to walk around like that.

MIYAKO SHIBA
Ridiculous Kaien's nearly-as-ridiculous wife, though she comports herself with enough grace and dignity to be judged slightly less absurd than her husband. Aizen neither likes not dislikes her, aside from the vague disdain he holds for nearly everyone in the world, really.

relationship: the former third seat in the 13th. shiba's wife.
feelings: □
if another dead shinigami appears, i may be tempted to proclaim this world to be the afterlife of the dead.

URYUU ISHIDA
One of the Ryoka - a friend of Ichigo's and Orihime's. Aizen has no particular fondness for or or dislike of the boy, but Ishida was one of the invaders at Hueco Mundo - a group that managed to cause the Espada enough difficulty to rouse a bit of excitement even in Aizen. Ishida is the last of the Quincys, and quite strong for a human. His intellect and resilience are also admirable.

relationship: no one of note, though he is a friend to someone of note.
feelings: ■/□□
the quincys lost my interest long ago as a race, but this one is not entirely useless, i suppose.

YACHIRU KUSAJISHI
The lieutenant of the 11th - a child adopted by Kenpachi Zaraki when she was only an infant. Though young, she rather powerful for her age, not unlike Hitsugaya although obviously not to the same extent. She's rather obnoxious, and given to calling him a traitor, which gets unbelievably boring. However, he's taken note of Isley's interest in this girl and intends to keep an eye on that as it develops. He fully expects her to reach captain status at some point, if she can master her bankai or has the stomach to murder her foster father (which she doesn't).

relationship: the lieutenant of the 11th. some child.
feelings: □□
her relative strength is impressive. i would spend more time thinking of her if she weren't so irritating.

DAWN SUMMERS
Aizen didn't take much notice of this girl until her mind was opened to the world during one of those periods in which, well, people's minds are opened to the world over the Forge. At that time, he learned that she was a Key - a dimension opener - in human form. At that time, he began to take quite a bit of interest in this girl, and fortunately for him, she came to take interest in him as well when he mentioned offhand the possibility of teaching languages. As it happens he was being sarcastic but she took an interest and since he wanted to get close enough to study her, he agreed and she became his student. This was all well and good until she began acting oddly - likely a result of someone whispering in her ear, though he isn't sure who. Tsk. He intended to rebuild the relationship, but then she went missing, and remains so even now. As for his feelings on the girl herself, Aizen found her amusing in a way, and while he wouldn't have minded being around her even if she weren't a Key, he wouldn't have gone out of his way to do so either.

relationship: an object to control.
feelings: ■/□
i could claim to be irritated by the challenges thrown in my path, but it only makes victory more valuable.

ISLEY
The eldest of the three Abyssal Ones - and the most powerful. Much like Aizen himself, Isley presents himself as a rather pleasant man, though he often come off as cold, where Aizen can be quite warm at first impression. Isley also shares a philosophy similar to Aizen's own view of strength as superiority and weakness as worthy of contempt. This, along with a number of other shared traits, has made their conversations unsually intense and lively. In that sense, Aizen does genuinely enjoy talking to him, as it isn't often that he meets an intellectual peer, and of course Aizen has always hungered for peers. However, this does come with a complicated downside, as Isley is - again, like Aizen himself - a strategic thinker and a manipulator. Beyond that, Aizen has noted that Isley displays territorial tendencies and a high level of ambition as well as a desire to dominate others. Furthermore, Isley is extremely aggressive and violent, carrying the mindset of a warlord, in many ways, more than a general, and often attempting to resolve differences through combat rather than discussion... which is a little barbaric, in Aizen's personal opinion. While Aizen is not especially threatened by Isley's presence - being a man not given to territorial displays - it does seem likely to him that Isley will never be comfortable coexisting with someone of Aizen's capabilities, and so will always regard him as a threat. For these reasons, Isley has, himself, become the one person in Anatole that Aizen most regards as a "threat." While this is inconvenient to some degree, Aizen will openly admit to finding this feeling - the impression that there is someone who may truly be capable of matching wits and blows with him - somewhat pleasurable. Pleasurable enough, in fact, that he allowed himself to be drawn into an otherwise pointless battle in the Arena, which ended without a victor, as the Arena was collapsing around them and the battle had to be stopped.

One could call them rivals, of a sort. Or "frenemies," though any appearance of friendship is quite surface, even so.

relationship: abyssal one; intriguing and possibly the most dangerous person here.
feelings: ■■■/□□□
i would leave him be simply because he's interesting. however, as things are, i'll likely need to kill him before he causes too much trouble.

LUCIELA
One of the three Abyssal Ones, who are the most interesting otherworldly creatures to him, so far. Of the three, Luciela is the one he has spent the most time with, meeting her for tea both in a cafe and in his own home. She is also the source of the majority of his information on her world and the nature of her species. Luciela is a strange beast, to him - her dramatic and coquettish personality paired with her extraordinary strength and hidden malice make for an interesting mixture, which he finds simultaneously ridiculous and charming. Furthermore, though she is intelligent, he does find her to be somewhat more easily moved than the other two. He finds her to be something of a drama queen, really, but given his tendency to surround himself with people like Grimmjow and Szayel, this isn't particularly offputting. He suspects that she is occasionally trying to manipulate him, which is rather amusing to him as well, but doesn't offend him, as he would do the same thing. And he does.

During the Valentine's Day event, Luciela found herself infatuated with him, which led their their becoming physically involved. Though the emotions eventually passed, the physical, um, entanglement did not. Overall, she is the one of the three for whom he holds the most genuine fondness, although this is relative considering that it is Aizen. Finally, he thinks she is quite beautiful, though he personally approves of shoes.

relationship: abyssal one; an ally of sorts, a companion for tea and a lover.
feelings: ■■■■/□/♥
i've heard that on her world, she was "queen" of the south, and all its red gold fields. it seems fitting.

RIFUL
One of the three outrageously powerful creatures Aizen knows to be called the Abyssal Ones. Of the three, Aizen knows Riful the least, though they have met for, shall we say, lunch. He is interested in her power and how it manifests, particularly knowing as he does that each of the three has different abilities despite their comparable strength. As of now, he has observed that she is rather cheerful and polite, though he has also observed that she is rather cold beneath her outward presentation. Recently, as he observed the network during the truth-telling incident, he also noticed that she is what he would call reactive rather than proactive, perceiving her behavior as defensive or necessary, and that she seems to have little or no active ambitions of her own. She also seems to have little conscience, but that is a given with those three. Her reactive personality makes her less of a concern to him than some, but even so, as with the other two, he has an interest in her and would like to maintain at least a surface cordiality.

relationship: abyssal one; acquaintance and potential ally or truce-mate.

Teresa of the Faint Smile
Aizen considers this girl to be the cocoon form of an Awakened Being. Which is to say, she's a Claymore. Her power is impressive, considering her natural state, and he does find her personality somewhat charming - all that confidence and that little smile. How cute. However, this won't stop him from cutting her up to see how she works.

relationship: acquaintance, of sorts. test subject?
feelings: ■■/□
what a lovely girl. i should like to see how she fares in various... circumstances.

Spencer Reid
One of very few people Aizen has come to regard as an intellectual peer. This human seems to be without spiritual powers, or any other abilities of note, and yet his mind makes him more interesting than most superhumans Aizen has dealt with. At home, in the living room, Reid was considered a genius, and that this is true is quite evident. He enjoys his conversations with the boy, though of late he has, shall we say, detected a tonal shift. As of now he hasn't been curious enough about it to bother investigating.

relationship: a human law enforcement agent; a mind worth taking note of.
feelings: ■■/□
how rather rare to find a person with whom i can speak without being afflicted by boredom.

ELENA
This girl serves a manager for fighters in the Dismas arena. For that reason she's proved to be somewhat useful to Aizen, as he has occasionally fought there... only for the chance to capture a few hundred people within his shikai. He remains on good terms with her and, though he considers her mildly absurd, he has no particular dislike of her. That said, she occasionally makes him roll his eyes nearly out of his head by, for example, trying to set up a mystery battle between him and Isley and giving him far too much information about it for him to possibly not figure out who it was.

relationship: his 'manager,' he supposes. a tool he likes to keep on hand, just in case.
feelings: ■/□□
a useful tool, if somewhat overly enthusiastic about everything.

YAZOO
A young man with an Oedipal complex. He's got quite the attitude on him, and isn't as powerful as many of Aizen's normal allies, but there is something interesting about him. Aizen is intrigued by the specifics of some of his abilities - for example, the shadow creepers - as well as the nature of his existence and who this "Mother" of his might be. As a result, he's struck a deal with Yazoo - the remnant will serve Aizen and in return Aizen will, should he succeed in controlling the Door and the mist, return Yazoo to his Mother. Alternately, Yazoo has asked that Aizen protect the city so that Yazoo can survive to return to Mother one day, if Aizen himself cannot deliver the reunion. This request was inherently intriguing in itself, and made Aizen more interested in Yazoo's personality and complexes; as a result, he agreed largely out of curiosity.

relationship: an ally with whom he's struck a bargain; an interesting speciman.
feelings: ■■■/□
easily manipulated, reliable but only to a point. this is the nature of all creatures of loyalty.

dropped.

Hisana Kuchiki
Byakuya's completely unnoteworthy wife. Though she would normally be of no concern or relevance to him whatsoever, he is increasingly interested in the development of her abilities here... since she wasn't a shinigami at home. This says fascinating things about the nature of mist, and he is interested in discovering how that happened and how far it goes.

relationship: the wife of an old colleague
feelings: □
one of many revived corpses - perhaps even one of the more interesting ones.

JYUUSHIRO UKITAKE
It would be something of a stretch to refer to this man as an old "friend," but certainly they did have a great deal in common during Aizen's time in Soul Society. Ukitake is a senior captain in the Gotei 13, and as it happens, Aizen did not harbor any particular ill-will toward Jyuushiro, though his defection from the Gotei 13 seemed to upset the man. Upon Aizen's arrival in Anatole, this apparently boiled over somewhat, causing Ukitake to assault Aizen... which went rather badly. For Ukitake, that is. Aizen chose not to kill him more for the gloating rights than anything else. As it stands, he occasionally bothers Ukitake just to get a rise out of him because, really, Anatole can be quite boring. Though he does not consider Ukitake to be a true peer on the intellectual or physical level, Aizen does have some respect for his ability and consider him to be... notable. You could say Ukitake is one of the few residents of Anatole that Aizen does not essentially disregard.

relationship: a former comrade and fellow tea-lover. currently, a foe of sorts.
feelings: ■/□
i suppose there are more annoying men, though, this may change if he continues to buzz about my head.

RENJI ABARAI
From the moment he met this young shinigami - at the Academy during a Hollow attack, Aizen knew he would be the most problematic of the students present at the time. It was for that reason that he passed Renji off to the 11th. It's hardly surprising - one could say he has never much cared for people who shout and use harsh language. After that, he watched as Abarai became advanced to lieutenant of the 6th with some small measure of pride, one could say. While Aizen does not especially like Renji, as his former commander, he does feel some small measure of responsibility for him. ...very small. In practice, all this really amounts to is being inclined to warn him before attacking rather than simply attacking first and speaking later and, if forced to aim for Renji's death, preferring to have someone else do it rather than doing it himself. Overall, Aizen considers Renji to be a particularly stubborn and capable insect.

relationship: a former subordinate. lieutenant of the 6th.
feelings: ■/□□
somehow this boy continues to be attached to his own arms. how fortunate for him.

RUKIA KUCHIKI
The biological sister of Hisana Kuchiki, and adopted sister of Byakuya Kuchiki. This lowborn girl is rather powerful, despite her unseated station. Indeed, she is only unseated due to the wishes of her brother. All of that said, Rukia was only ever notable to him due to her status as Urahara's chosen home for the Hogyoku, which he hid inside her soul. For this reason, Aizen arranged for Rukia to be arrested and executed in order to free the stone, leading to the revelation of his identity as a traitor and his departure from the Seireitei. He did, however, retrieve the stone before he left. Rukia herself isn't especially notable to him, though as one of the group of invaders to Hueco Mundo, she did manage to make his life a little less boring for a time.

relationship: member of the 13th; stronger than her status. kuchiki's "sister." Ichigo's friend.
feelings: ■/□
i can't say i have any opinion on her at all, now that she's been separated from her most valuable part.

SHUNSUI KYOURAKU
Ukitake's closest friend, among other things. Much like the captain of the 13th, Shunsui (Captain of the 8th) is a formidable man both intellectually and physically. In Shunsui's case, his carefree presentation belies his true strength and ability, giving him a certain duality that Aizen considers interesting - particularly as Aizen himself is a man with many faces and facets. Aizen considers Shunsui to be somewhat more dangerous than Ukitake due to his superior stamina, although again he does not by any means see Shunsui as a physical or intellectual equal, or a danger to himself... provided he does not make any foolish errors. As Aizen is aware that he is not completely infallible, he does keep track of Shunsui's movements, and have some measure of respect for his abilities.

relationship: another former comrade and current foe. a two-sided coin.
feelings: ■/□
that captain shunsui maintains a second personality is hardly surprising. it seems a common enough affliction.
