THe release itself mentions that if you use an S2 layout/style, customized comment pages can be enabled or disabled using the journal settings. I just changed my setting from (I think) disabling custom comment pages to enabling them and it brought back the old comment box. I suspect, however, that this is going to screw up the way my pages look -- I prefer to strip them of layout styles and go with the clean white page approach so people don't have to read my fanfiction within the confines of the layout style I've chosen.
The release goes on to say that they are also planning to release a new S2 commenting style which will appear & function in the same way as the old site scheme commenting page. What I'd like to know is why they couldn't wait to make this change until that was done.
Actually, other than for a kinkmeme, I could deal with the changes they made if only they'd left the ability to spellcheck and preview a comment. That's a real headscratcher for me.
Ick. What's with requiring us to use the userpic browsing system in comments now? I didn't browse before--I have almost 200 userpics, and it takes too long for them all to load. I'd hate to think of what that will do to anyone with a slower connection.
