well. in topology (the study of 3 dimensional geometry; namely holes and surfaces) there is a thing called a Mobius strip or a Mobius band. Let's say we have a long strip of paper and i bring the two ends together in a loop, but put a half twist in it before i connect the ends. this loop now only has one side. i can take a pen, hold it to a tabletop with the pen point on it, and pull the strip through, and i can successfully write on what was once both sides.
