Cassie Thompson walked down the streets of Davenport, a brightly colored canvas shopping bag over one arm and a straw sunhat covering a beautiful head of white hair. She beamed beautifully, smiling and greeting people as they passed by regardless of whether she knew them or not, an aura of happiness and life surrounding her. To the average observer, she was a woman full of life and happiness even well into her years, but to the hunters of the city who spotted her, they smiled and chuckled to themselves, knowing that woman was no average woman.
That woman was Cassie Thompson, the White Queen of Davenport and the wife of Hatter.
Stories had elevated her to almost a legendary status in the hunter world, stories that painted her as a legendary hunter in her own right who had bested Hatter in a gunfight to a princess of a royal family who had fled after war had torn her country apart and was residing in Davenport until it was safe enough to return and reclaim the throne. But if there was anything that was certain about the woman, it was she was the love of Hatter's life, she had the will and strength needed to stand by a man who played such an important role in the city, and one taste of her cooking and any man or woman could die happily, her cookies especially.
But for all the rumors and stories, Cassie's origins were quite simple. She was not born out of the seafoam of the ocean and raised to the surface in a giant clam shell nor was she sculpted out of alabaster marble and breathed into life by a god, but she was simply the daughter of a schoolteacher and a horse trainer and grew up happy and accustomed to the violence that surrounded the city.
(Though it was entirely true her father had been a crackshot in the military before he retired as a horse trainer and had taught his beloved daughter everything he knew about shooting. It was also entirely true Cassie had once beaten Hatter in a shooting contest, a story that often made its way around the bars.)
While she spent most of her time out on the ranch tending to the horses and other animals on the estate, she still took time to visit the city she grew up in and certainly dropped by Phlegtheon to visit with her husband (when he was around) and some of the other hunters. Today, Cassie was out doing a bit of shopping and seeing what was new in the city.
((This has been sitting around in my head for awhile and I finally had to get it out. I figure it'd be a good chance for her to get to know some of the others. I think she'd already know Evan from when he and Ginia spent some time at their house for the holidays.))
