I LOVE Reepicheep's perspective, I've never seen that in a fic before! You write him so naturally, all honor and duty but without unnatural bluster or superficiality. I love hearing his voice like this!
Also am I crazy for seeing one-sided Reepicheep/Lucy in this? He just seems more forgiving of her than of anyone, though that perhaps, is the influence of Lucy on everybody.
Um. You aren't *Crazy*, per se, but Reep's interest in Lucy isn't exactly sexual. He *would* make himself her champion if he thought she'd accept him, though... Lucy has that sort of effect on everyone, but especially on Talking Beasts. They would die for her honour, one and all.
Well I wouldn't imagine SEXUAL tension betwen Reep and... well, anybody... but I'm very fond of the knight/lady relationship so I think I might have picked up on that subtly. In my own personal canon Edmund is Lucy's knight, which isn't a sexual relationship, but rather a somewhat spiritual and intimate one.
In that case, yes, you're entirely right :) If Lucy were around longer, Reep probably *would* swear fealty to her, but she keeps buggering off back to England.
He might have to fight about two dozen other Talking Beasts for that privilege, but then, Lucy would probably arrange to accept them *all*, because Lucy's just like that.
I like this very much-you have a good voice for Reepicheep and he's believably observant. I think it sheds light on how uncomfortable Edmund is with non being needed there any more (and that's some good advice Reep gave to him).
Lucy would have to create her own Order of the Cordial or something to accomodate all the Talking Animals who'd want to wear her favor. *smiles*
Reepicheep was SO MUCH FUN to write. Particularly in the scene with Caspian. Reepicheep and Sulky!Caspian go so well together :)
Ah, Reep. Wiser advice has never come from the mouth of mouse... Not that I think Ed listens.
I thought the cycle needed a nice thematic-like introduction, though, since Consequences is all about Ed's personal development, and the whole cycle is turning out to be a dialogue about honour, and kingship, and knighthood and manhood... Edmund and Caspian are the main players, but Reep and even Lucy have something to say in there.
