You've been very clever in subtly including aspects to this small backstory which appear again in the main story. I actually laughed at Jim having to look at the ceiling while Bones is stripping to change! It's really fun seeing the event from Bones' POV but having the knowledge to know what's going on in Jim's head. :-)

And how sweet that Jim remembers the anniverary of their meeting and that McCoy thinks it's weird but secretly rather enjoys the fact that Jim views him as special.

Awww, cute! I love seeing the beginnings of attraction from Bones' POV. We know that Jim had been attracted for a while, it's nice to see that Bones was too. I love Bones being totally oblivious to Jim trying really hard not to look at him changing. Something in the ceiling? Psh, no! Jim's just trying to hold that boner at bay!
