2012 Fic Exchange, Phase 2

Sep 14, 2012 15:40

Just like in previous years, our exchange participants not only know how to write to great prompts, they also know how to ask for great stories. Following are the unfilled prompts, listed by fandom. We have not attached recipient names to any prompt but we know who's who, and when a story comes in we'll be sure to let the proper recipient know.

The same rules apply here as they did for the fic exchange itself: the fic should be at least 1000 words in length, the rating can't be exceeded, and when it's done it should be mailed to the mod account with the submission header on it. We'll post it and send notice to the recipient that one of their prompts has been filled: voila, just like magic. The main difference is that anyone can fill them; you need not have taken part in the exchange to write to one of these prompts. Also, any prompt is eligible to be filled more than once. There's no need to worry that someone else will claim the story or stories you want to write, and you can write as many as you want.

Be sure to check the mirror community on Dreamwidth for comments on both these and the originally-posted stories. You might have comments there you haven't seen.

Fandom: Airwolf
Preferred characters: Michael (Archangel), Caitlin
Prompt: Would love to see fic with these two together. Maybe the two of them have to go save String and Dom for a change? Het or gen equally welcome. If you can't get your head around Michael/Cait, I'm equally good with Michael/Marella - just please no romance with String and Cait.
Maximum allowed rating for this request: any

Fandom: The Avengers (Movie)
Preferred characters: Phil Coulson/any
Prompt: It's a lonely life, but not without it's moments of happiness. (Het or Slash, no pref)
Maximum allowed rating for this request: NC-17
Any notes to pass on to your assigned author: I'm open to pretty much anything, but I'm a sucker for good dialogue.

Preferred characters: Thor/Jane
Prompt: her view on what happened from her secure place and how did they end up connecting. Other option is any characters and a focus on communicating, how technology can close some distances but not all. I'm fine with this fic going a little dark since its there in the movie.
Preferred ratings: PG to R, my focus is having the same general tone of the original works and nothing dark or smutty for the sake of it.
Any notes to pass on to your assigned author: My favorite kinds of stories are the ones that are full of missing moments and with couples those moments of intimacy. The problems and joys of inviting someone into your life as a friend or a companion. Also I adore humor, one reason I love all of these fandoms is their brilliant mixture of silliness and seriousness. Thank you so much for writing for me.

Fandom: Awake
Preferred characters: Tricia Harper, Michael Britton
Prompt: When the two met and she let him have one brownie.
Maximum allowed rating for this request: T
Any notes to pass on to your assigned author: Please no slash or crack.

Fandom: Battlestar Galactica
Preferred characters: Saul Tigh, Ellen Tigh, Tory Foster, Sam Anders, Galen Tyrol
Prompt: What is the most basic article of faith? That "This is not all that we are." I know those are Leoben's words to Sam (and if you want to explore that whole interaction, go for it, I will love you forever, I love Sam's role during the Demetrius arc), but I'm thinking I just might like to see how those words apply to each of the Final Five. Pick one, pick all of them, pick a subset. Pick any setting, any circumstance any of them find themselves in. As long as Leoben's statement is a fundamental part of the story, I'll be happy. Feel free to include any other characters from the series, either human or Cylon, or if this prompt inspires you to go way out on a limb into some BSG-related AU, go for that, too. I'm really easy to please, and will be delighted with just about anything as long as it's in character and as long as it makes sense given the world you've developed.
Maximum allowed rating for this request: NC-17. I don't need the rating to be that high, but some of the characters lend themselves to that. If that's where it takes you, I'm totally fine with that.
Any notes to pass on to your assigned author: I'm not a big fan of slash for the sake of slash. If it happens as a matter of course that's okay, but if it doesn't exist in canon, I'd prefer not to see it as the focus of a fic. Please, no incest or non-consensual sex. I don't mind dark and gritty at all, but the more a story's in keeping tone-wise with its canon, the more I'll tend to enjoy it. Also, you should know that I am easier than a six-week-old puppy with a ball: whatever you write, I'll probably love to little pieces. If you get an inspiration from one of the prompts and it takes you off in a completely different direction, I'll probably love that too. As long as the characters act like themselves, I'll love whatever you want to do with them.

Preferred characters: Bill Adama, Laura Roslin, Sam Anders, Kara Thrace, Karl Agathon (Helo), Sharon Agathon (Athena).
Prompt: "I must go down to the sea again." When the Galactica reaches Earth, they land on the beach.
Maximum allowed rating for this request: R
Any notes to pass on to your assigned author: Thank you for your story! I am certain that whatever you write will be wonderful, and I know it'll be appreciated. In terms of personal preferences, I generally don't seek out excessive hurt/comfort or excessive angstfic. I'm okay with OCs or NPCs in the story as long as the canonical characters are predominant and well-written. I particularly love fics that easily double as "missing scenes" or character explorations. I look forward to reading your fic!

Preferred characters: Sam & Karl (Nice Guy BroTP!), mild optional Kara, Sharon, etc.
Prompt: Sam married Karl’s BFF, making them autobros, and I want them to have an adventure together. If you have a great idea as to when this could happen during the series, I’m ALL FOR IT, although AU is also great and I’m going to suggest a post-apocalyptic road trip AU. If you go AU, their connection should still be via Kara. She can be present in the story, but I’d prefer if their adventure was bros only. Quid quo bro: “To look out for one's dudes in reciprocity.”
BONUS POINTS IF:
1) They attempt “Good Cop-Bad Cop” but totally fail because they are both the good cop.
2) They get drunk in a bar and Helo tries to give Sam a “big brother” speech re: Kara.
3) Kara, Sharon, and Jean B-story
Maximum allowed rating for this request: R (but no slash please)

Preferred characters: Bill, Kara
Prompt: I’d like something that really explores Bill and Kara’s father-daughter relationship. No AU, although pre-series is okay. There can be background shipping (I’m sure this is obvi to you by now, but Kara/Sam is my preference, although of course that depends entirely on when you set it), but I would like the relationship at the center of the story to be Bill and Kara.
Maximum allowed rating for this request: PG-13 (you could go R for violence or language, if necessary, but not for sex)

Fandom: Boston Legal
Preferred characters: Denny and Alan
Prompt: The usual insanity with these two. Denny being Denny - whether fighting off hordes of zombies or dealing with an odd client. (If you write post-series fic, I prefer to believe that the new drug worked and Denny hasn't gotten any worse.) I read these two as either friends or slash, so go with what works for you.
Maximum allowed rating for this request: Prefer not to go super graphic, so say "R"

Fandom: Bourne Trilogy
Preferred characters: Bourne, Landy, Hints of Bourne/Marie welcome <-- I won't have had the chance to watch "Bourne Legacy" before the due date, so please don't spoil!
Prompt: Objects in the mirror are closer than they appear.
Maximum allowed rating for this request: As long as it's not porn, then I'm fine with whatever. There's tons of porn out there; finding more character-focused stuff is trickier.
Any notes to pass on to your assigned author: The reason I won't have the opportunity to see "Skyfall" or "Bourne Legacy" before the due date is because I'm moving to something of a podunk town that sadly, lacks a movie theatre. I want to see them though, so the spoiler thing is really, really important to me.
In general? I've specified ships, and any character that's just listed is one that I'd love to just see in fic. You don't have to use all of them, or anything like that. It's just my preferences. Feel free to use any ship or any character listed, and to leave out one or what have you. That said...
BOURNE: Bourne/Marie is freaking wonderful. Landy is THE HBIC. Stoic, scary Bourne makes this fangirl's heart go pitter-pat. Feel free to take this as dark as you need to go, so long as Landy stays awesome. Fandom could use more of her.

Fandom: Burn Notice
Preferred characters: Sam Axe, Fiona Glenanne, Michael Westen, Madeline Westen, Jesse Porter, Madeline Westen, Dani Pearce (Favorite pairings: Sam/Fi, Sam/Mike/Fi, Jesse/Dani or Maddie/Sam)
Prompt: Valentine's Day in Miami, and all of the resultant consequences
Maximum allowed rating for this request: NC-17

Fandom: Chronicles of Narnia (Books)
Preferred characters: Any
Prompt: "Everything you know is about to change". How any adult (parent school master etc) reacts to one or all of the Pevensies after one of their trips to Narnia.
Maximum allowed rating for this request: PG 13
Any notes to pass on to your assigned author: I'd prefer not to see anything that would make Lewis roll over in his grave (like incest or slash or cross species things).

Fandom: Cowboy Bebop
Preferred characters: Julia
Prompt: There's an appropriate Florence + the Machine lyric: "leave all your love and your longing behind/you can't carry it with you if you want to survive." I want a look at Julia's life in those three years after she left Spike and the Red Dragons without a word. Key moments over the years? Awesome. A single day in the life? Equally awesome. Just give me an idea of what her life is like. Where does she go? How does she live? Does she ever take jobs? Where does she stay? When and how did she get information on Spike and/or Vicious? What was her visit to Blue Crow like? What were her favorite places "on the road?" Tackle as many or as few of these questions as you wish!
Maximum allowed rating for this request: R
Any notes to pass on to your assigned author: I tend to fall in love with canons because of the characters, so strong characterization and strong character voices are my personal catnip. I also love missing moments, fics that feel like they could've been ripped straight from an episode or chapter I missed. I've written a lot for my prompts here because I'm always afraid of not giving my writer enough to work with, but keep in mind that it's just my effort to throw out ideas I'm interested in and offer you alternatives. I promise I will enjoy whatever you're inspired to write after reading all of this!

Preferred characters: Spike, Faye
Prompt: you can't go home
Maximum allowed rating for this request: R
Any notes to pass on to your assigned author: Enjoy the ride. Except for these tiny instructions, i'd say you have the floor. :)

Fandom: The Crucible
Preferred characters: John/Abigail
Prompt: "An hour before the devil fell, God thought him beautiful in heaven"
Maximum allowed rating for this request: NC-17
Any notes to pass on to your assigned author: I love smut, BDSM and specifically D/S relationships, angst, dark romance and infidelity stories.

Fandom: Doctor Who (1963)
Preferred characters: Ian, Barbara, Two, Jamie, Zoe, Nyssa, Tegan, Seven, Mel, Ace, Hex
Prompt: okay, because this is a HUGE canon, I'm going to list out several prompts because that hopefully will increase matching options. Let me know if this isn't okay.
- Ian/Barbara, having to find new lives after returning home
- Two, Jamie, and Zoe having an adventure, preferably of the silly sort
- Nyssa/Tegan, after "The Black Orchid", getting out of those pretty costumes
- Seven/Mel or Seven and Mel, her brain saving the day
- Ace/Hex anything at all as long as it has a happy ending
Maximum allowed rating for this request: NC-17
Any notes to pass on to your assigned author: My likes (not all in one story, but in general!) are nonlinear storytelling, strong and brave female characters even if they're not the lead, neat little tie-ins or call-backs to canon, present tense, humour, adventure, and stories that make me think and let me use my imagination to fill in between the lines. Also, I usually write short fic and have a strong appreciation for the genre, so I'm as happy with ten drabbles to meet 1000 words as I am with a novel, if that's better for you.
My big squicks are non-con/dub-con/rape, incest, and kinky stuff. I also dislike hurt/comfort, non-stop angst, character bashing, adultery/cheating, and overly stereotypical gender roles.

Fandom: Dragon Age
Preferred characters: Fem!Hawke, Bethany
Prompt: Sisters: can't live with them, can't live without them.
Maximum allowed rating for this request: R
Any notes to pass on to your assigned author: I tend to love things for the characters, and these are no exceptions. They have people thrown into crazy situations doing their best to deal with it, and that brings out the best and worst in them. I prefer my stories character-driven, but anything true to the characters -- action, drama, whatever -- will make me impossibly happy. <3 I'm sure I'll love whatever you come up with and I'm looking forward to reading it!
I love the relationship between the Hawkes. And for Dragon Age 2, that pretty much says it all. I love the rivalry and the bickering but the strength of the relationship, too, so I'd love something touching on that.

Fandom: Dream High
Fandom #3: Dream High
Preferred characters: Hye-mi, Pil-sook, Jason, Teacher Kang Oh-hyuk, Teacher Yang Jin-man, Teacher Shi Kyung-jin (or any combination thereof)
Prompt: "It's the friends you can call up at 4 a.m. that matter." - Marlene Dietrich
Maximum allowed rating for this request: PG-13
Any notes to pass on to your assigned author: I basically just want to read about good stuff happening to my preferred characters, but villains in the piece are welcome if they get served in the end :-p Thanks in advance for writing!

Fandom: Due South
Preferred characters: Meg Thatcher, preferably Meg/Ray K
Prompt: touch
Maximum allowed rating for this request: any
Any notes to pass on to your assigned author: hmmnn...Well, for the Meg/Ray K one, I'd like it to be kind of sexy or steamy. It doesn't have to be NC-17 if you don't want, any rating is fine. Also, I'd like it to be positive and not negative (you know, not hating each other). If you can't think of something sexy for the prompt, I'll pretty much take anything. I just love Meg/Ray K stories, and there aren't many out there anymore.

Fandom: Fairy Tales (general)
Preferred characters: i'd say free range. from rumpelstiltskin to the match stick girl and in-between
Prompt: can you keep a secret?
Maximum allowed rating for this request: pg
Any notes to pass on to your assigned author: Enjoy the ride. Except for these tiny instructions, i'd say you have the floor. :)

Preferred characters: Rapunzel and Snow White (or Rapunzel/Snow White)
Prompt: When Snow White runs into the forest to escape the queen, she finds Rapunzel's tower.
Maximum allowed rating for this request: NC-17
Any notes to pass on to your assigned author: I love smut, BDSM and specifically D/S relationships, angst, dark romance and infidelity stories.

Fandom: Firefly
Preferred characters: Mal, Inara, Kaylee, Simon, River, Zoe, Wash
Prompt: What home feels like. I love this story for all the quiet moments and would love a look deeper into either one of these pairing combinations or larger looking at the concept of home and safety. In terms of rating, I'm happy with a little sexiness as these are couples who enjoy each others company.

Preferred characters: Simon Tam, River Tam, Kaylee Frye
Prompt: Sometimes what you want is where you least expect it.
In Firefly, my favourite part of the show is the very special relationship between River and Simon, and I'd love to see that explored in some way. I'm not interested in seeing any sort of incest in the relationship.

Fandom: Game of Thrones
Preferred characters: Arya Stark, Jon Snow, Tyrion Lannister, Jaime Lannister, Brienne of Tarth (or any combination thereof)
Prompt: A (rare?) show of affection
Maximum allowed rating for this request: R
Any notes to pass on to your assigned author: I basically just want to read about good stuff happening to my preferred characters, but villains in the piece are welcome if they get served in the end :-p Thanks in advance for writing!

Fandom: Harry Potter (Books)
Preferred characters: Kingsley Shackelbolt
Prompt: "War is a time that tires men's souls"
Maximum allowed rating for this request: PG 13
Any notes to pass on to your assigned author: For Harry Potter I am a canon lover. I would prefer to see no mentions of slash in what is written and I prefer happy endings.

Fandom: Hawaii Five-0
Preferred characters: Steve, Danny, Kono, Chin, Jenna, Lori, Grace, Rachel, Gabby, Cath, Max
Prompt: I have fallen hook, line and sinker for this show. I love its gritty cases, family team, and amazing local. There are five billion stories you could tell about these people and I would love them. I am a hardcore McDanno person, but it doesn’t mean I haven’t seen the beauty of Rachel/Danny and the occasionally hotness of the casual Steve/Cath / Steve/RandomPrettyGirl. Because lives and hearts are never simple, right? And this show never makes it that way.
Again this could be anything involving some of those people, any of those people. A case. Downtimes. Snap shots of interactions. Things that would amuse me highly: Rachel’s whole take on Danny over the last two years, given Five-0, Gabby, Steve, etc. Those six weeks Steve was gone, from Danny or Steve’s point of view, maybe interchanging them, maybe just Danny. Or, hey, even Gabby’s perspective on the last half season. Oh God. I don’t know I want it all. Umm. How Kono and Adam happened, because those kids are obvious Romeo and Juliet. A background on the earlier years of Kono. What Cath does in the other 99% of her life, when she is not being shown sleeping with Steve. Tell me if Max had more Theme nights and the boys had to make up with him. A cohesive look at just who Lori is with all these different roles they tried to put her into. Jenna. The same thing with Jenna, who she was and who she became because of Five-0.
Yeah. So. Uh. I love me some Steve, or Steve/Danny, but honestly, anything you want to write me about anyone in this series pretty much I’m going to be on like white on rice. So have fun.
Maximum allowed rating for this request: All
Any notes to pass on to your assigned author:
I do not like: characters who are one dimensional, character who sounds like they are fourteen or twenty when they aren't, weak under developed villains, nonconsensual anything scenes (unless it's actually show in the canon before hand), abuse, needless character bashing or setting up of people (character a and b go together in this fic thus c and d and e and f must be together to make a and b have happened), weak women, and really unless it's very well written, and has a *point* to plot, I skim sex scenes and find myself bored. Mpreg, possessiveness or overruling jealousy that is not canon, completely breaking or ignoring something canon proved.
I like: plots and character development, especially deeper into the canon which we haven't gotten to see. I love relationships; friends, family, lovers (together and unrequited). Prose that is written as poetry. Narrators (though this one is very hard to have pulled off correctly). I like happy and I like dark. Set the right, true depth in a scene and I'll be there whatever you put it. Scenery and setting, and all the people and places this connects to being present is important. Strong characters, over whelming emotions, hard truths, hypocritical humanity (or beingness), to be able to feel and touch and hear what is happening, details that fill out the world around my characters makes my heart soar. Emotions, banter, secrets revealed, journals, poetry, literacy. Believable alternate universes, flawed characters, formal wear, bare feet, multiculturalism, twisted endings and what if endings. All sorts of weather, especially windy fall, snowy winter, sunny spring and rain.
I love love stories, too, perhaps, best of all. I don't mean just fluff, but any kind of story even unrequited or parted lovers, deaths, family, friends, etc love stories. If it has love in it somewhere, that is true and beating and not perfect, I will love it.

Fandom: The Hunger Games (Books)
Preferred characters: Cinna
Prompt: Is Cinna a true revolutionary? Is Cinna a tool of the Capitol? A tool of District 13? Is he something in between? He's my favorite character, both in the books and in the movie. In the books we see much more of him, he gets fleshed out beautifully but also gets a pretty raw deal. Tell me about Cinna's life in the Capitol: what's his background, how did he come to be who he is, and who is he, really? What is his life like, who does he love? How does he live? Why does he do the things he does? Why did he specifically request to be the stylist for District 12? Feel free to elaborate on the things we learn about him later in the series. Also I'd love it if you want to include the surrounding characters (Octavia, Venia, Flavius, Haymitch, Effie, Katniss, and whoever else you like) as you see fit. Whatever floats your boat, I just want Cinna backstory!
Maximum allowed rating for this request: R. The books are pretty raw and violent, but I say use your judgment.

Fandom: James Bond: Casino Royale/Quantum of Solace
Preferred characters: M, Bond, Bond/Vesper
Prompt: That's just something the world needs to live with if it wants the good guy to keep saving the day.
Maximum allowed rating for this request: As long as it's not porn, then I'm more than happy.

BOND: I'm not a fan of M/Bond as a romantic thing. I love the two of them as mentor/mentee, and watching them spar verbally. Their banter always crackles and I love it. Bond/Vesper is delicious, either in their bittersweet-ness, or in its absolutely wrenching fallout.

Fandom: Justified
Preferred characters: Mags Bennett, Ava Crowder, Raylan Givens, Boyd Crowder, or any combination/subset.
Prompt: "You should know that's not how we do things around here."

Fandom: Once Upon A Time
Preferred characters: Regina
Prompt: I've got two to choose from here, either “redemption” or anything Regina/Jefferson
Maximum allowed rating for this request: any
Any notes to pass on to your assigned author: For the Once Upon a Time one, I'd really like to see some vulnerability. I love seeing that side of her character, and you don't see it very often. Also, I'd like to see what someone else considers would be possible for her to see any kind of redemption. If you go the Regina/Jefferson route, whatever you write will make me happy.

Preferred characters: Snow White/Mary Margaret
Prompt: This is probably the only I’m a little more specific about. I have fallen in love with Snow/Mary Margaret. It’s, also, possibly my hardest request, because I’m not a huge fan of speculative fiction in a Lost-esque genre. I would love more like fill-in fic with this one on some part of her life.
Examples are, but are completely not limited to (as shown with all the things above) Snow’s life before Regina saves her on the house. Or during the time in the woods, between the discovery of Red’s Curse, and the meeting of Charming. Some more scenes and stories during the time of her affair with David. Family snapshots through the year of Mary Margaret and Emma living together, and growing into more well-rounded, able people, albeit slowly.
Maximum allowed rating for this request: All
Any notes to pass on to your assigned author:

Fandom: Psych
Preferred characters: Shawn, Gus, Juliet, Carlton, Marlowe, Buzz, Henry, Chief Vick (Parings: Juliet/Shawn, Carlton/Marlowe, Buzz/Juliet or Shawn/Jules/Gus)
Prompt: Yin and Yang's revenge didn't end there...
Maximum allowed rating for this request: NC-17

Preferred characters: Henry, Gus, Shawn
Prompt: Shawn/Gus slash or bromance mistaken as slash - their relationship from Henry's point of view.
Maximum allowed rating for this request: R? Doesn't really call for smut.
Any notes to pass on to your assigned author: I'm open to pretty much anything, but I'm a sucker for good dialogue.

Fandom: Roswell (TV)
Preferred characters: Tess
Prompt: I'd like to see something that doesn't demonize Tess of how she was doing her best not to hurt her friends at the end of Season 2 and what she was trying to accomplish.
Maximum allowed rating for this request: M
Any notes to pass on to your assigned author: Please no slash or crack.

Fandom: Terminator (Movies)
Preferred characters: Sarah Connor
Prompt: Sarah and John training in the gap between T1 and T2.
Maximum allowed rating for this request: R (matching the films violence/language wise is fine)

Fandom: The Walking Dead (TV)
Preferred characters: Daryl, Andrea, Shane, any others necessary
Prompt: I'm a sucker for the Groundhog Day trope (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/GroundhogDayLoop). Somehow I've gotten it in my head that I'd love to see the hilarity and character growth that would result from Daryl getting stuck in his own personal Groundhog Day situation. One day someone will write this for me! Don't worry if it's not you; alternately, I would also love anything Andrea, especially if it involves her learning to effectively defend herself and developing friendships with the other ladies in the group, and I'd also be just as thrilled with a fic that gives me a good look inside Shane's head and explores his inner conflict during the week that Glenn brings Rick to the group, torn between the man who was Rick's friend and partner when life was simpler and the man who provided for and fell in love with Lori when the unthinkable happened.
