I felt really bad for Claude here: But perhaps not yet, though he knows this thought is born of cowardice. Please, not yet.
He's finally found something good in Peter and is probably afraid that Peter won't want to be with him anymore once Peter finds out about Claude's past. The way things are going I don't think Claude is going to get away with keeping it a secret for much longer.
Looking forward to the next part, as always. :)

Comments like this make me unreasonably happy, too! :D
really interested in that backstory on how Peter met Claude.
It's probably fairly mundane. But I'll have to work it in, somehow! Gotta love flashbacks :)

Well, Claude's ... evasive, when he needs to be.
Thanks for reading and commenting!

I do get the sense that however they met and came together was probably fairly normal-- no rooftop stick beatings or attempted strangulations against lightpoles. That's why I'm so interested! *laughs*
He's terrified.
Poor Claude. He'll feel better for it once he tells Peter, because there's no way Peter is just going to up and leave Claude. He'll comfort Claude instead. Er, right? LOL.

I think so. I think that by that point, Claude only wanted normal. So actually, he was probably a bit surprised that Peter was special.
You've just given me a great idea for a flashback chapter. Cheers! :D

It's always about timing. And that's probably all I should say about that ;)

"'Look - I wasn't always a bookseller.'" Don't know why but that made me laugh.
I wouldn't say no to an Uncle Claude.

*g* I'm glad you like. That was for you, of course.
Of course Peter hates it.
Peter likes fairytales.

Oh, I would. I would be having tremendously un-niece-like thoughts.

You got a point there, tremendously un-niece-like thoughts indeed.
