This is the kind of fic I was hoping someone would write. Not for the specifics of plot, but for the "not about two people" line that is just the perfect summary of the piece. Sex and death are just so raw, and putting them together this way really gives a glimpse of the characters as they are, deep down.
a titanium stare that Claude imagines would send most voters screaming in the direction of the other guy.
Obviously, Claude hasn't met the fans...
It's all about Peter. Little fucker's dead and it's still all about him.
Priceless. Reminded me of the early days of cleolinda's Lost recaps. My keyboard nearly got a cherry vanilla Coke baptism.
I'm reading from this (between the lines) that you didn't have a specific pairing in mind when you wanted something in this vein ... ?
I'm not sure if it was more that I didn't have a pairing in mind at all, or just didn't know what pairing I did have in mind. I think it's just a direction I wanted to see someone explore with Claude/Nathan after seeing several people start to write the pairing. And as I was composing the comment, I had just remembered having read at least two other stories with different pairings exploring the sexual-bonding-over-third-party-death theme, so I was kind of generalizing. Apparently I like the theme.
Oh, great, something else sad to make my night depressing. Bah. And also, so well written that I can't even hate you for it. Grr. I'm just a bundle of joy, aren't I?
would only serve to cut off Claude's not-inconsiderably-sized nose to spite his own ugly face. Pyrrhic surgery, if you like.- This line did make me snort, though. Oh, Claude.
And damned if he's just going to lie here getting Nathan off like some sodding intern-- And that too, made me giggle. What can I say, I'm a sucker for politican bashing. And lawyers. Lawyers too. It's really very ironic.

*snorts* I'm sorry, dear. You can hate me if you want to. I don't mind, really.

I'm glad you liked. I admit, I was quite tickled when I thought that up.

Hee! I don't really have the Lawyer thing, but there's something about Nathan in a really good suit (and baby pink shirts, in particular) that does kind of unhinge me ... ;)
Thanks for reading! And I'm sorry if I depressed you.

I'm glad you liked. I admit, I was quite tickled when I thought that up.- Hee. I'll bet. For such a depressing little story, you had some really funny lines.
I don't really have the Lawyer thing, but there's something about Nathan in a really good suit (and baby pink shirts, in particular) that does kind of unhinge me ... ;)- He's a very good looking man...the eyelash. Ohhh, the eyelash. No matter what Claude says, they're awesome.
I don't know, I'm allegedly going to law school at some point in my life and supposedly planning on working in politics, which is why Nathan always amuses me...I think my absolute favorite moment of his was when Mohinder tells him he's being targeted and he's like "Can you be more specific? Twelve percent of the electorate strongly opposes me."
Oh, you didn't depress me! Much. Just made me want to write fluff.
You can hate me if you want to. I don't mind, really.

Yeah, go right ahead. I feel like I deserve it when I bring the angst ;)
For such a depressing little story, you had some really funny lines.
I can't seem to help myself, you know. I have a problem with levity. Fluff? Throw in the funny. Angst? Funny. Crack? Actually I've barely written any crack, but the genre is more or less made of funny.
He's a very good looking man...the eyelash. Ohhh, the eyelash. No matter what Claude says, they're awesome.
Well, Claude's very particular ;) But yeah. Nathan's a good-looking man :)
I don't know, I'm allegedly going to law school at some point in my life and supposedly planning on working in politics
Awesome. Although bear in mind that if you're ever involved in politics at a high enough level to be visible, your fic may come back to haunt you. Just sayin' - be careful now, okay?
"Can you be more specific? Twelve percent of the electorate strongly opposes me."
oh ouch. Claude walking away at the end was incredibly powerful; what he had is gone and he's not going to settle for second-best. dang. This was great.
You know, I'd been waiting for this ever since you mentioned you were doing. It's practically a kink to see Nathan paired with anyone besides Peter--clearly, the guy isn't quite as relationship-prone as his brother. But of course this isn't a relationship, and damn, you did it well. I can even see this happening, based on the assumption that Peter doesn't immediately show up, although...wait, you don't want spoilers, nevermind. *coughs* Anyway! Dammit, I wish Claude would come back to the show, 'cause now I want to see what would happen if he did meet Nathan. Quite possibly something like this, but maybe without the sex, what with it...not doing that sort of thing.
And we will all be Jossed in the end. I say this as a lady who wrote a story in which Nathan and Peter lost their memories and ended up getting married in Canada, dammit. Jossing is a fact of life, and all we can do is have our fun before it happens.

LOL! I guess.

That would be "his brother, the Heroes bike" ;)

I'm trying my hardest, but stuff will seep through ... don't worry about it ;)

TELEVISION: YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG.
I think it'd be more likely the sort of thing that entangled_now is writing. Man, I can't wait to read that :)
Jossing is a fact of life, and all we can do is have our fun before it happens.
That's a philosophy I can't fault :)
Glad you enjoyed this and that it lived up - I think/hope - to expectation!

no acknowledgment that this might be about two people.
Which is fair, since it isn't.
Just one.
That's fantastic. Loved it.

Well, Ms. Schadenfreude, I'm happy to have provided ;)
Seriously, glad you liked it. Angst FTW!

*g* I'm having a good couple of weeks for nearly trashing people's computers. My apologies ;)
Thanks for reading and I'm glad you liked!

Claude ... yeah. If there was one footnote to his life, it'd be "Claude leaves." I think he's stupendously emotionally volatile, under there.
