Meme: Book Bazaar!

Oct 01, 2009 00:02

I've been wanting to do this for a while, and the trip to Kishoreganj just confirmed it for me! During my stay at Kishoreganj, I had lots of free time. And well, while it was nice to have some time to myself for a change, there's something called having TOO much free time which inevitably leads to - you guessed it - utter boredom. Driven to the ( Read more... )

Coincidence? Yes. *nods*

Hm, I don't want to spoil the fun by telling you too much, but I'll tell you that if you're big on vocabulary, then you'll probably like it! Somewhere in the middle, the book just became imbued with a sense of reality and at the same time, fantasy - the writer makes the most unbelievable things believable.

Uh, on that note, could you specify the writer and the sentence no. in the meme, please? Cuz you already guessed the name of the book, so...

Anyway, do tell me what you think about the book - since not many of my peers are familiar with OYoS, *frowns* I really don't get enough chances to discuss it! :(

I don't know why but that scene's been stuck in my head for two whole weeks! It's official: yaoi is taking over my life and all I dream of every single moment is Sasuke and Naruto clawing at each other with animalistic passion, stripping each other bare of their soldier uniforms in a frenzy of-- *facepalms* Yes, i'm quite shamless, I know. As I was saying - it's been on my mind for a while. Now if only Kishimoto would just hurry up with all those pointless fights and get to boyxboy lovin' already...

I've searched all across iGoogle, Yahoo, Scribd, Amazon and e-bay and you name it, but couldn't find any well-known war stories. At all. So I really appreciate you looking out a little! Thanks! :D

Hahaha, in that case, welcome to my life))) I'm very yaoi-obsessed)))))
Shameless is fun)))
Ugh... so true... But I don't see Kishi hurrying up. He seems to love tormenting us fans)))

*hangs head dejectedly* Yaoi is going to be the death of me one day...

I really have no idea what Kishimoto's planned (what with Sasuke going ballistic on everything he sees). I don't think even Kishi knows what he has planned. Imo, he didn't plan out the future chapters at all!

Maybe I'm just assuming this, but have you noticed how the fights are gettng more and more predictable? Whereas, in the earlier chapters the fights were so well-planned and several times, they caught me off-gurad. But the fights in the last sixty or so chapters were so damn predictable...

Wah, I don't have any fics to rec, but I've got one or two tramping around in my head, haha! And as for original published yaoi fiction, I broke that cherry just weeks ago... lol. which is surprising, see as how my dad is a used bookseller who doesn't care that I like gay porn and gives me more books than I'll ever be able to read. xD

*screams and despairs* Publised yaoi fiction is just so hard to find here in Bangladesh and the only options left is to purchase the good ones from Amazon... with money I don't have. ):

And girl, is it ever amazing that your dad doesn't care about your preference for gay porn! I mean, if I told MY dad something like that, he'd... I can't believe I'm even considering this! The idea of telling him my guilty pleasure is just too absurd! Cuz, well, my dad's 61 (turning 62 this Saturday) - old enough to be my grandpa - and he'd probably freak out!

And please, I'm getting desperate - what book did you read? (Please tell me it had hot manxman lovin' in it!) I'll search it on Scribd!

*pats back worriedly* Oh no! have you tried half.com? It's a sister site to ebay (ebay's copy of amazon) and sometimes it has books cheaper than amazon.com. And I'd send you books personally, but my dad is very protective about me knowing ANYONE just over the internet. ^^" It's sweet, but a little silly. I feel like he should be the father of a alcoholic slutty slacker instead of me, what with his level of nosy protectiveness about everything I do :)

I know! Every day I feel so lucky about how accepting- though bitchy- my dad is xD. And that's okay, my dad had me pretty old as well; he's 52 now. And happy pre-b-day, indira's daddeh!

Uhm, the one I read was called Mexican Heat. It's about two gay latino cops, both undercover in a drug heist- and despite the fact that they've had kinky, slightly dom/sub sex, they both don't know the other is undercover. Angst, injury, sex, and awesome gun-fights ensue. xD

10. It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to Heaven, we were all going direct the other way - in short, the period was so far like the present period, that some of its nicest authorities insisted on its being received, for good or for evil, in the superlative degree of comparison only.

NO CLUE, BUT HOOOOLY RUN ON SENTENCE.

and yumyum, shirtless naruto. /swoon

You don't know the book? *gapes* You canNOT be serious!

Forgive how astounded I am, but I just cannot fathom th idea of anyone not reading... well, can't give out answers now, can I? XD But yeah, the sentence is pretty, well, long! Favourite part: it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair.

I'm taking it that, maybe, you're into yaoi? But if not, I mean no offense! ^_^

Hell yeah! *molests Naruto*

The name of the book? You're asking me the name of the book?! What has this world come toooo!! *shakes her head sadly* But yeah, guss I'll tell you: A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens. (It's MADAM, btw. XD)

And *squeal* You like SASUSAKU!! I do too! It's my OTP, in fact, but I dapple in any combination of Team Seven love. SasuNaru, NaruSaku, KakaSaku, Team7 OT3... But yeah, apart from Team 7 OT3, I'd say I like SasuSaku the most.

Yeah, the SasuNaru community is just so active - it makes me sad that the SasuSaku community is lacking in that aspect. I thought the Summer Contest would boost the morale a little, but even that wasn't much of a success. It's just so disheartening... *sigh*

Pffftttt, CLEARLY this was written by Stephenie Meyer. Duhh, everybody knows that.

(/shot for blatant stupidity and probable blasphemy
It's a Tale of Two Cities)

I don't recognize any of the others, though.

I think I should probably tell you that I had a major heart attack when you said that! SO NOT FUNNY! I mean, really, what if I died of shock or something?! *thinks of charging you with attempted murder via site post* I'm still quite befuddled about why Twilight (aka cliche monstrosity) became an international bestseller! It's just something a twelve year old fangirl would squeal over!

Aside from my disdainful regard for that horrid book (if it can be called that), I'm glad to say: YOU'RE CORRECT! *applauds* It's 'A Tale of Two Cities'. Now, do you know the author's name? (I'm taking that's a stupid question to ask, but I need to put I up on the post, you know? XD)

Hm, I should probably tell you that among the ones besides AToTC, two made it into my favorites during my stay! *sigh* But it's sad that no one has been able to guess them so far D: They don't know what they're missing! :(
