I had a bit of a problem initially trying to figure out where exactly this would fit into the plot, and about halfway through I realised that we never really did get an episode narrated by Izaya, did we, and never an episode that focused on him either.

Oh, wow! I really enjoyed reading this~ It's got such a nice flow and rhythm to it, and I felt like it was actually part of the light novel --- particularly the part where he mentally checks off his list of things to do. This actually reminded me, on a smaller scale, of Virginia Woolf's Mrs Dalloway, with the way you've written his day out and whatnot :)
