I'm soo pissed off at iTunes right now...

I decided to see how the videos look on the iPod, and if I have to convert certain file types over to a raw (like MPEG or something) format before I can watch them on the iPod. Well, guess what is the default setting in iTunes for iPod synchronization? AUTOMATIC! Damn iTunes saw that there was ( Read more... )

Ooh... I really want an iPod because at the moment I'm trying to keep music on discs to save HDD space and now I just have millions of discs - the grand plan is to whap everything onto an iPod and then that'll be my portable hi-fi and music collection. Anyhoo, yeh - I'm on OSX, but at the moment I have an iShuffle which is just a glorfied USB stick so I don't have any problems with it. One of the things that bugged me what what you mentioned - if you connect the iPod to iTunes, then it totally changes over to the music on the iPod and kills everything else (I think?), but if you don't connect it, you can't access the iPod. Gah!

I'd love one of the new video ones but I think I'm going to wait for them to work out the niggles. How's it treating you otherwise? I'm so envious - hope you enjoy it!

Yeah, I'm really happy that I can store *all* of my mp3s on this little iPod... Now, if my computer ever crashes, all those mp3s will still be there. Although I do keep a backup of my mp3s on a second computer ^_^

Oh, I totally love my iPod... I finally named it too... Saji (it seems to mean "small or petite" in japanese). My biggest issue is the video stuff... I haven't got it to work yet at all. But other than that it's great.

Although, you have to watch out for scratches... I think this thing is as proned to being scratched as the ... nano (I think the nano had the big "it scratches so easily!" thing). So, ya gotta be really careful in that regard. But, other than that, it's awesome. Battery life is pretty good (not the 12 hrs that apple claims, but when is it ever?).

Yeah - if I were you, I'd buy a case that completely covers your iPod. I think it's the same material they use on most of their products - iBooks, iPods (all) and the G5s etc - it scratches to buggerey. My iBook looks spotless but when you look closely there's scratches everywhere!

yeah, exactly! There was some lawsuit against apple recently about one of the iPods (the Nano or Mini... I can't remember) because they changed the pastic cover on the screen, which made it a lot easier to scratch. But even before then, other iPods had scratch issues....

Ahhh, to have the good ol' days back when people only complained about the metal back of their iPods getting scratched.
