I just spent the last hour or so talking with my roommate about topics ranging from our "now ex" partners to our thoughts on religion... We are diametrically opposed on these topics, from how to break up to how to what the basic rational for religion is

*nod* It is a little strange. I think he's half excepting of me, but for better or worse, I have the feeling that he's doing a "lets test this out to see how 'gay' Dan really is" or perhaps he just doesn't care anymore. He's rather complicated and difficult to figure out.

yup, same guy, still just as difficult to comprehend. Decent enough of a roommate though.

See, as you surely know, the ability of some people to connect with others completely baffles me. I just don't understand it! I can't work out how someone can generate an incredible connection within minutes of meeting them, where I always feel awkward and bumbling... How do they do it?!

I know! It's incredible how some people can just do that. I'm nice enough, but very quiet when I meet new people... I just don't feel right talking so much around them. I'm *always* with someone I trust though, so that helps a bit. And a touch of alcohol never hurts the social experience! ^_^

Same, I think I'm similar to yourself - I normally take a little more of a back seat but recently I've been feeling inadequate and as though I should be more. *sigh* Guess I'm just having one of my slumps! :(
