I didn't read more than the preview window, but I assume this is mostly about Heath Ledger being a pretend gay cowboy.

I just can't imagine being that hateful and cruel. What kind of make-up must a person have to dehumanize someone else so completely and decide that the a family and community deserve to be insulted amidst their grief.

Yeah, the good ol' Westboro Baptist Church. The press release they issued ends with the sentence "Heath Ledger is now in Hell, and has begun serving his eternal sentence there - besides which, nothing else about Heath Ledger is relevant or consequential".

REALLY? So a man who, to my relatively untrained eye, was a pretty goddamn (blashphemy totally intended) fantastic and talented actor, as well as a father who totally loved his daughter, and, incidentally, a fucking human being with a family just like all of us, doesn't matter at all because he offended your delicate sensibilities and completely made-up moral high ground, and you're willing to attack his friends and family at a time when they're most vulnerable??

Fuck you, Fred Phelps. Seriously, just, Fuck You.

That's so horrible it's almost unbelievable.

Fred Phelps is one of the only people that makes me wish there WERE a hell. If there is, he surely will end up there...

(EDIT: I think I had a moment of brain deadedness, and confused Phelps with Falwell. *sigh* I can't keep my assholes straight.)

As long as you can keep your own sorted out and distinguish it from the pack...

Ditto to all the other sentiments left here. I'd just like to add my even stronger outrage at these bastards for picketing the funerals of fallen Iraqi soldiers, the logic behind that being that the US Military is helping the 'homosexual agenda' with their amazingly tolerant and progressive 'don't ask, don't tell' policy.

"With freedom comes responsibility" freedom of speech does fall into that category

Meg (indigofan) edited a reply to a LiveJournal comment

How the eff do you do that?

I only ever get the option to delete my comments, never to edit. But, oh it is so often that I want to edit, b/c to copy the comment, delete it, post another comment, paste old comment contents, and then _finally_ edit is really just a bit too much for me....

Heh. Newish feature for those of us with paid accounts. I really REALLY hated that I couldn't edit comments, so I'm glad they finally adjusted it.
