Poisonwood Bible! I didn't like it but it had one of the most beautiful first chapters in the history of first chapters of books. So I love it for that alone. I love The Bean Trees! It's my favorite of hers and I have to buy another copy to reread. :-)

To Kill A Mockingbird is so classic. I have to do a book talk on that one someday. Maybe in November?

You like fantasy! I have such trouble with fantasy. I can't 'see' it. When it's got creatures and worlds I've never seen literal me just can't see it. Never could even when I read The Black Cauldron in fifth grade long ago. I read that whole series for class but I can't remember any of it. This is why I liked the Lord of the Rings movies. What is one book you would bring on a desert island?

I didn't 'need' the LotR movies - in fact I worried they would ruin "my" vision, and sent in a trusted friend as scout to reassure me, before I saw them. :P But I'm glad for folks like you, and Mr!Indi, that Peter Jackson came along to unlock Tolkien's world for everyone!

Desert island - again, Lord of the Rings. :) It's like comfort food for me. But also if I wanted a respite from building my own shelter, catching fish, etc., I could see setting myself the task of learning Elvish, or drawing the ( ... )
