didn't the Oracles at Delphi owe their creation to Apollo

ooh, yes - hadn't even thought about the Apollonic connection that way! Silly me, though I certainly think of Leoben as the high priest here (so, "Python"??). :0)

thank you, hon! and thank you for the rec! *fidgets*

Oh my god. That was both horrifying and just right. Mostly horrifying--what a heartbreaking way for Lee to find her. It made me shudder. At the same time I can see how Kara would fit that role, creepy as the thought is. Good writing; Kara is so in-character and yet you have the hybrid-speak down well. Her last lines and her tears are so poignant. I'm glad she didn't let go of Lee even as a hybrid. And the very last line? Ouch! But I like this fic. You did a good job of packing a lot into few words. Besides the lines I mentioned, I also really like "a solemn acolyte," all the other descriptions of Leoben and his feelings, and the line about being a young race. I wanted to quote more, like Kara's first line and a bunch of Leoben's lines and Lee's "good hunting" line, but then I realized I'd be quoting everything... SUCH good writing! What an interesting read. Thanks for posting!

thank you! I love knowing what parts work for each person. The Hybrid-speak was a lot of fun to write, and as for the farewell I loved the salt ritual from Exodus and thought it fit in well here, albeit for a different purpose. (But then, that adaptability is part of what religion is about, isn't it?)

glad it all worked for you! Thank you for reading!
