I am supposed to be writing something else, but I am avoiding my homework, so... you get this. Just read Neuromancer (a twenty-three-year-old book!) for the first time, and I haven't read any of the other novels in this world, so I have no idea if this works in that world. But I thought it'd be an interesting time and place for the two 'verses to

HOLY FUCK. *braingasm*
Dude, Neuromancer is my favorite book of all time (I tell you, each time you read it, the better and the more OUTSTANDING it gets, omg -- especially because it's written almost in code with nothing to help you figure out the world, so you have to keep re-reading it to see into more of the nuances, etc)
ALSO. MOLLY. THE PROTO-TRINITY. MIRRORSHADES STEPPIN RAZOR, JAH LOVE. Ohmygod. I love that book.
And pairing her with Lee... YOU ARE MY FAVORITE PERSON RIGHT ABOUT NOW!! :)

And you are so right, Molly is the ur-Trinity. So badass!!

Here's the mindtwister. The trooo Molly otp is Molly/Johnny Mnemonic. They meet in the short story, Johnny Mnemonic and are totally otp and seemingly run off into the sunset together AND IN NEUROMANCER WE FIND OUT THAT NO, NO THAT IS IS NOT THE CASE. IN FACT, THE GANGSTAS CAUGHT UP WITH THEM AND KILLED HER BOYFRIEND. SAD CRIES ALL ROUND.
And of course, hollywood did the worst possible book-to-movie translation in, er, Johnny Mnemonic the movie, in which Molly was traded out for some TWO BIT HUSSY OF A UN-BADASS WOMAN (oh Dina Meyer, how you constantly break my heart)... BUT JOHNNY WAS PLAYED BY KEANU REEVES...
... who of course plays Neo to Trinity, the DIRECT descendant of Molly.
AND THUS THE SIX DEGREES OF WILLIAM GIBSON'S CYBERPUNK LIVES ON. (Note that he wrote Neuromancer on a TYPEWRITER and sorta MADE UP what the internets were going to be)

And it was totally cool to read Neuromancer, knowing that none (little) of this stuff existed when Gibson wrote the book. I mean, you have to wonder how many of the people creating the Internetz were thinking about his stuff (or, say, Neal Stephenson/Snow Crash) when they were designing stuff??

Molly is a fabulous character (I think she'd give Starbuck a swagger run for her money), though I won't urge Neuromancer on you as it's quite tech-y for your tastes. I highly recommend Pattern Recognition, though!
