The last cats I had, one was born outside, and I got him to stay indoors with me. He enjoyed going out and ripping around in the snow for hours, then coming back inside to eat and get warm. He still liked to spend a good 1/4 of his time outside. One cat I found outside would go outside for only short periods of time, until she got used to us shutting the window. She had been obviously left outside to die by her previous owners, so was worried whenever we shut the window. As soon as we'd do that, she'd want back inside! It was odd to have the one who was not as used to people trusting us more that way.
