restrictions on herbalists

i know that regulation is necessary in some cases, but i think that the government can go too far in assisting it's people to relieve themselves of their reason. just because something is potentially harmful does not mean that it has to be regulated by the government. people should be able to use their own judgement in accepting a treatment or not ( Read more... )

Speaking as someone who deals with the general public on a daily basis, I'll just point out that while it's nice to think that people can be trusted to use good judgement, the vast majority have a great difficulty with it. When there are individuals out there who will raise a fuss over the presence of peanuts in their peanut M&M's, or fish in their tuna fish - thereby requiring the addition of warning labels to inform others of such a presence- some guidance apparently is required. Now, whether the government should be doing that may be debatable, but that's a whole other can of worms....

my sentiments on the government are obvious. and yes, the public is stupid, though i don't think that stupidity should be fostered or coddled. really though, my point is that herbalists shouldn't be limited in this fashion and it will cause many small businesses too many problems.

I don't think it is at all necessary in this case, and it infuriates me to no end. As far as i can see the governments theory is take everything good and pure and spoil it for material gain. Bullshit.
