Oh my.

Because I love Kyle so much and you managed to PERFECTLY seam The Terminator-Kyle with TSCC-John, I'm going to go all nerdy on you and express how I enjoyed these moments:

Derek was the key John had been missing for so long. Derek knew Kyle. He affirmed for John that Kyle was a real live, living, breathing man and not some fairy tale his mother invented.

This. This is why the show works for me. I was hesitant to watch the show but when Derek Reese was introduced, I was sucked in because the show was connecting the emotional dots that makes me love Terminator in the first place.

"...Probably KIA."

John shook his head. "They'll turn up."

“That’s not likely."

John shrugged. "Unlikely or not, they'll turn up."

McManuss frowned. "It's really creepy when you do that. Sir."

Really, that's a powerful thing for him to remark because it is highlighting the personal and tragic details that only Connor (and the reader) know all to well. Yeuh.

Where Derek was loud and brash and gratingly bitchy with his dry wit and biting sarcasm,

They touched on that when Sarah said (Kyle) had "kind eyes" But, it seems like they may have forgotten that which attracted Sarah (and me lol) to Kyle.

Indeed. I am still sooooooo apprehensive of them showing Kyle on T:SCC. Even if it is just a Sarah hallucination or Derek memory. And god forbid they do more than that ... I give them a lot of leeway because the Derek character could have been awful and he turned out to be beyond awesome. But the casting alone of the Kyle character. UGH. I am not, not, not into Kyle the stupid little brother at all. And I'm afraid that's where they're going.

How is it that this story has only one comment? It's gorgeous! If, at the end of Born to Run, young-John managed to get back to his own time, this is exactly the way it would happen.

Firstly, I`m really glade to see a one more TTSCC fic of yours and secondly, I absolutely love it for being such sensitive and touching without being sugaring. And you did a wonderful job describing those complicate feeling John must have towards his father.

Loved how you wrote John's relationship with Kyle. I remember watchig the eppie where Derek took him to the park and he saw Kyle as a kid... heartbreaking. I fell in love with Derek just for that.
