So you know I have reservations about Sarah/Kyle (I've always hated Romeo and Juliet) but I did really like this section. I like the look at these absolutely tortured relationships. There is no solace in this world ALL of it has been made wrong by the war, not just most of it.

I love Sarah/Kyle to pieces (and I'm not sure I get the Romeo and Juliet connection), but yeah, even in this world where they're together it's still all very wrong and not happy. This world simply isn't meant to be :(

Oops that was ambiguous... I mean
Romeo and Juliet in that in both cases the couples know each other for an extremely brief period of time and yet are intensely in love. It rings false for me.

In defense of Kyle, he was in love with Sarah almost all of his adult life. Hero worship mixed in there somewhere too (the catalyst, I think) He might not have known her but a few hours in real time, but a lot of people fall in love with the idea of someone. In a sad twist of fate, he got what he wanted but at a very high price.

Kyle never crossed the line except when he slipped about being in love with her. He panicked but Sarah understood. For the sake of explaining their situation and courtship in the time span of a film, you could instead imagine the many days that Sarah and Kyle could have spent on the run. The result would have ended the same, I think, with them falling in love.

First love usually feels like true love and I wouldn't chalk up 'love at first sight' as fleeting. It is very real for those that experience it. I wouldn't say that Sarah and Kyle fell in love at first sight, though.
