LOL, the #1 surprised me; I was sure it was going to be the gothic!saiyuki one, or one of the mpregs. Those seemed to elicit the most traffic/comments. (If memory serves, I actually untagged "pregnant girl!Gojyo & Hakkai" from its "mpreg" tag because it was getting an inordinate amt of mpreg-fan traffic? Gojyo was feeling violated, man! ...I could be misremembering this.)
amusing honorable mentions:
rockstar Crawford - uploaded July 24, 2010 - 259 views
rockstar Schuldig - uploaded July 24, 2010 - 258 views (LOL, Crawford is winning by ONE, Schuldig is FURIOUS)
Hakkai x Gojyo "Growing Season" watercolor illustration - uploaded on dA on July 9, 2011, it has 242 views there; uploaded March 20, 2012, on
pixiv, it already has 263 views. Theory: this work is far more popular--or at least more curiosity/click-inducing--with Japanese viewers.
Things I have learned from dA and pixiv:
Musn't confuse number of views with how successful I or others find the piece.
My works' viewings seem largely dependent upon their interestingness at thumbnail size and the salaciousness/desirability of their tags?
On Deviant Art I'd probably garner more hits if I used dA properly and joined a... group? community? something? I don't even know how dA really works, because I never bothered to try hard enough to find out (I've never found it very user-friendly in a community sense, so I gave up. I assume people find my stuff either by following me or searching tags--or when I'm kindly invited to share a work with a group, and it garners more viewers).
I am sad I will never be able to reeeeally connect with anyone on Pixiv, because it's very lively and the art is FABULOUS and intense. Curse my Japanese illiteracy!
Must draw more.
