day one: current favorite ship

amelia_seyroon is doing a 30 Day Pairing meme, and even though I suck horribly at 30 day memes, I thought I'd try another. :)

I think one of the very cool things about Sheldon/Penny is that even if you don't ship them, you kinda have to admit that they're a funny duo and have really great chemistry together onscreen. I can see their relationship going either way.

Yeah... I like Leonard, but he has really gone downhill in character, especially in season three. I hope he gets redeemed somehow in season four because I blame the writers for the way his character was treated. No more Leonard/Penny for me, esp. because it was boring and really awkward to watch.

I know what it is about Leonard. It's the way he whines and looks down over glasses and squints, in this rabbitty face that is exactly how my mother does it. Exactly.

Ooh, shipping meme! I did this one already and I think it's cool that you're doing it too. :)

Oooh, I might have to browse through your tags and see what your answers were. :) I love reading other people's choices, and always either find something new to think about or a new thing to watch, haha. ♥

I am a full proponent of the Shenny. I haven't even seen S3 yet, but I don't really think Leonard is going to go anywhere with her. What you mention about Sheldon changing around her-- He tries. He doesn't always GET it, but he does try for her.

They say he doesn't want her because he's asexual, aka, not plagued with a sex drive. But I wouldn't let that be a deterrent.

YES! I find that him going out of his comfort zone for Penny really sweet. ♥ It's one of the things that made his character turn around for me. I love Raj dearly, but I definitely really love Sheldon more than I did in season 1.

I actually find his lack of a sex drive very charming, and it's actually ANOTHER reason why I ship Sheldon/Penny, rather than letting it be a strike against. Every single guy wants to get into Penny's pants, but not Sheldon. So Sheldon wanting to be her friend, wanting to stay in her life? It's all her. It's not because she's a pretty blonde that might let him sleep with her.

Well, and given that they've treated his character as Asperger's personified, that he's taking it upon himself to try to accommodate her way of doing things is nothing short of amazing. And yes, he's NOT doing it to get in her pants.

I find that a creepy facet of geek culture: The guys who are friendly with the girls JUST because they want to fuck them. There was this one guy who was friendly with me for years, but after he'd finally decided to ask me out, I had to out myself as gay, and I pretty much never heard from him again.

That's AWESOME, huh? I'd rather be around other queers and asexuals, instead of Wallowitzes and Leonards, who talk to me basically for having boobs (small boobs, but boobs nonetheless).

And anyway, Penny has her own nerd side just itching to come out. I have seen it, and it is glorious.

YES! I am so annoyed by that. I'm especially annoyed by all the movies that usually will have socially awkward boys (not exactly GEEK boys, either) try and win the "hot girl." I don't want to have a culture where girls are objectified into trophies, and where the only reason why a guy's totally smitten with her is because dude, she's totally hot.

I love that Penny's starting to have a nerd side. :) I think the boys are really changing her in that way, and that's awesome. Now if only she'll audition for a sci-fi show, just so I can see her dress up in ridiculously cool outfits.

Could do the 30 Days of Anime, first. XD

Hmm maybe after this one. I'm currently not watching a lot of anime, so I'm not really in an anime mindset. I'd prob suck at that meme, lol.

My problem is, I watch so much of it that it's endlessly difficult to choose just ONE thing at a time. X)

LOL. I'm trying to get into more anime titles, but not a lot has caught my interest. I'm still reading Fairy Tail, and sorta reading Bleach (just mostly skimming it though :/) and a few others. I read TONS of shoujo, though. But they're sort of a "read through once and forget about" type deal. Need a good shounen staple. XD

ooh, this meme is interesting. And I love that you're so obsessed with TBBT.

Sheldon/Penny is awesome. I love them together too; even though I like Leonard a lot (although less than Sheldon, Raj, and Howard, but more than Penny), he and Penny seemed like an obligatory direction for the show to venture in, not something that happened naturally. Not that Sheldon/Penny would ever happen. I don't think either party would ever develop romantic feelings for one another. Especially not Sheldon - I think it's quite interesting how he's portrayed as so completely asexual.

I like Leonard too, but the writers definitely did a disservice to him in season three, and a lot of viewers ended up hating him a little bit. I still like him, esp. when he's around the boys... When he's around Penny, it's kind of a trainwreck.

I think you'll find the new spoilers/episodes* interesting, esp. with where they're taking the Sheldon/Amy thing. I think the writers writing as being asexual is brilliant, and I love that he's the only one that doesn't want to get into Penny's pants. I think that makes their friendship more meaningful. He has made an effort for her simply cause she's Penny, even though she's someone he'd never really tolerate.

I can see Sheldon and Penny going either way. There's enough groundwork for them to slowly like each other, but I'd also be very satisfied and content if they just stayed as friends. For now, I'd rather see Penny get a better career and more development for the boys (esp Raj!)

I've read that Penny gets dragged along, and the Sheldon/Amy thing lasts for a while. Sheldon has to deal with Amy developing feelings for him or something...that should be interesting. I can't wait for the new season! This show should definitely has a ton of potential, not that it isn't super awesome already. But I agree, more development for the guys and Penny's career would be great.

And I'm curious: how do you feel about Howard?

Reply

indefiance September 5 2010, 05:43:34 UTC
Yeah, apparently Amy physically touches him in some way and he gets weirded out (nevermind that he's hugged Penny a few times, peeked at her naked body, AND grabbed her boob. Writers, why don't you just kill my ship already and call them siblings? /SOB lol)

You know, I like Howard. I like him because he acts the way he does because he doesn't know any better and it shows--he rarely gets girls, lol. He doesn't exactly get rewarded for it, whereas Leonard usually does. When he finally does hook up with Bernadette, he allows her to set the pace to their relationship (the whole bases thing was hilarious, lol), so it shows you that Howard's not truly a dick, he just thinks with one more often than he should. Plus, I ADORE him with Raj. I think they're the cutest ever. ♥
