Hawaii accent?

Apr 13, 2006 06:55

My mother is a travel agent, so she speaks with a lot of customers who travel between Hawaii and the mainland. Some have told her that she sounds like she's from Hawaii.

I don't get it. I listen to the way she talks, and I listen to the way people on tv and in movies talk, and I can't hear how they're different.

I need to record my voice later. ( Read more... )

story time!, reality is boring, public, eh?

I've never actually listened to enough Hawaiians talk to help you with that. =P

But everyone has an accent. You can't avoid it. 3= <---Mustache! XD I kill myself. ;p

There's an accent when someone speaks pidgin, and I can tell when someone "sounds" local, but my mom doesn't sound particularly local to me when she's on the phone with customers. Clients. Whatever.

Or maybe those people are full of it because wow, they're speaking with a genuine Hawaiian? XP

OMG Bun-Bun I can't recognize you with your clever mustache disguise! *weeps*

You got me curious about Firefly! *shakes Fist of Doom at you*

Lol; imagine my surprise when people say I have a SoCal accent. I don't have any idea what that is! Then people say I sound like a newscaster, and for heaven's sakes, what do they sound like??? XD;
