Why Do Sylvari Have Boobs?

Now that the sylvari have made their grand re-entrance in numerous articles in gaming news, this is a question that has been popping up as those who haven’t been following GW2 (or simply not following as rabidly as others) get exposed to this new race. So, why is it, folks wonder, that a race of sentient plant people whose bodies are mere illusions

I think that might be a weird typo, and is referring to the human guy who planted the tree?

Well its nice that they bothered to come up with a concrete reason for the boobs and beards even though i still think they are unnecessary but I love the designs for the Charr and Asura. they are boob free! and the females really dont look that different from the males, esp the asura. All in all I like the sylvari design too. I do feel like of annoyed with the Norn because the male norn is so huge but the female one looks like a slightly taller version of the human. fail!

The diversity in characterization and the fact that the active developers discussing this are women makes me inherently happy, even if I don't play Guild Wars. Though, to be fair, I might just want to start.

You might want to look at more of the close-up pictures of the sylvari - the redesign quite handily disposed of that whole 'fantasy elves' thing, I think.

Well, if you want to look at it from a meta perspective, it was a matter of balancing the 'pretty elves' side with the 'PLANTS' side. You're Team Ent, but there is also a sizeable Team Elf that has to be considered. Dryads would be the logical compromise.

As for excuses, would you rather they not explain why the sylvari look humanoid at all? That would piss me off a lot more than even a flimsy in-universe explanation.

I foresee a lot of time spent playing this game. I can't wait for it to come out.
