What's everyone playing this weekend?

I tried playing some free-to-play MMO recently and was going to check that out further, but my laptop overheated and shut off. D: I might finally finish Twilight Princess on my Wii since I can't do anything on my computer right now.

My husband and I have been playing Atelier Rorona. I love it, though there has been some questionable dialogue that I could do without.
We're almost done with our first play-through, but I'm thinking we'll end up having to play it a few more times to S-rank it.

Our computer has been doing the overheating + shutting off thing too. It's really bad though, happens even when we try to stream a short video.

I really want to finish AC2 (and your post reminded me I never did finish Twilight Princess either :x oops!) but this weekend is going to see me ensconced in my office, finishing off a number of writing projects, sadly.

So I just joined Tumblr a couple weeks ago; who's got an awesome one I should follow?

(I'm tronlives on there, but I won't take it personally if you don't follow me back, because I will flood your dashboard with reblogs. Though if you like Tron, George Harrison, cats, and genderqueer stuff, you could do worse...)

some tumblrs I like following:

- Arrested Westeros (Arrested Development + Game of Thrones)
- Reasoning With Vampires (tearing apart Twilight)
- Get Out of There Cat (cats where they don't belong)

I'm about to start a video Let's Play of FFVI, which I played a little bit of... oh... many many years ago.

I'm just having sound issues brought on by recording in the emulator itself.

Anyone else do video LPs? Any suggestions?

I think number one would be "bring friends".

Remember that it's a 20+ hour game you're looking at, and dungeon sections tend to be highly repetitive. It will need a lot of commentary, and you're going to run out of gameplay mechanics to explain pretty soon.

i've been reading peter beagle's "secret history of fantasy" and although the premise is interesting (and about a woman), the whole OMG I HAVE MALE GAZE aspect of the stephen king story made me want to hurl.

Ooh, now I'm intrigued. What was with the Stephen King thing, if you don't mind me asking? I used to love his horror stories for the supernatural horror, but more and more I just can't read them for the constant cast of abusers and more.

i'm trying to figure this out without spoilers, and i can't, so feel free to stop reading now :)

the story about the woman is more or less fine -- she's obsessed with shortcuts and reducing driving time, and finds herself supernaturally able to get better and better at it. BUT the story is told from the pov of one guy telling another guy about it, and of course the one guy falls in love with her as she does this. and then she stops aging and becomes a virgin goddess. and in the end the guy who's fallen in love with her goes with her and she has turned into a sixteen-year-old redhead (from a graying married woman).

it was the "and now that she's achieved her personal obsession, she's a sixteen-year-old with red hair" that made me personally puke.
