Daniel Craig in drag in an AWESOME vid about equality between sexes.

I'm not sure if this is "geeky" enough, but the video toys with one of the most popular pop-culture franchises, which for me was always kinda hard to become immersed in because I hate Bond, the character, with passion.
But it's International Woman's Day and what they have to say is important and necessary.

International Mens day? Let's see... we make up most of the powerbase, control most of the property and profits, and have built a system that inherently favours us...
That sounds like 363 men's days to me.

Never read the comments. It brings out what a lot of these guys /really/ think, and that's pretty damned ugly.

In ... well not defense, since it's still derailling, of that commenter, it made me look up what the men's day IS:

The objectives of celebrating an International Men's Day include focusing on men's and boy's health, improving gender relations, promoting gender equality, and highlighting positive male role models. It is an occasion to highlight discrimination against men and boys and to celebrate their achievements and contributions, in particular for their contributions to community, family, marriage, and child care.

And while the second sentence makes me side-eye HARD (celebrate their achievements for everyday activities?!), I like the first sentence (because thanks to this vid, Daniel Craig would be qualified, too, as a positive male rolemodel.

But yes, I should know better.

Men face certain obstacles when entering fields such as nursing, child care, and teaching in elementary school. With nursing, the question is "Why aren't you a doctor?" With child care and teaching, it's "zomg you must be a child molester!" Stay-at-home dads take a lot of flak too about not being masculine enough or whatever, and I've read blogs from SAHDs about moms giving them really nasty looks when they take their kids to the park and when they try to go to lapsit classes or Gymboree (again, it's "zomg child molester!").

But yeah, this world is still all about the men.

ohhh nice! why did you even BOTHER to read the comments on youtube? reading youtube comments is like running your head into a wall repeatedly, especially! when it comes to a charged subject like sexism.

Great vid. Bond references *yummy*. That is one hideous wig and clip on earrings, but Daniel Craig makes a fine woman without them.

You know what I heard recently about Judi Dench? Her first agent took one look at her and said "Your face is all wrong." I mean, really? Really?

I hope that she regularly sends pictures of herself to that agent on red carpets and newspaper clipings about her Acadamy noms and such, with a note that reads: "Apparently it's just fine. :p"

To be honest I found this video to be a bit random?, but it's a good thing anyway.

I can see what their doing, and I loved the stats, shot at Bond about being sexist and Judi Dench but at the same time I'm tired of an ad about women's rights having only a man in the advert (even if he didn't speak) and the lack of critical thought about having said man dress in women's clothes.

Yeah, I think a direct confrontation would have been so much better and more effective, too. The cross-dressing part didn't really serve a purpose for me and I'm not too cool with it being used the way it was - as you say, without any critical thought.

As a dude, I figured it was being aimed at dudes to specifically recognize the problems Judi Dench was talking about. I'm certainly not a marketing person, so I wonder what way they were approaching the whole thing. *insert assumption about men only paying attention to men* It definitely would have been better to have her onscreen with him.

yeah, and if that's what they're going for and if men were paying attention, they would've lost ninety percent of men with 'lawl Daniel Craig in a dress.'
