I think I am at my weirdest in the morning and in the kitchen. Today I stood on a stool and turned in a circle while my bagel was toasting and imagined that I was 7 feet tall in my kitchen for about 5 minutes. I have the slowest toaster oven on the planet. Then I cut and ate a mango. I am beginning to understand the subtleties of mangoes after this ( Read more... )

So fucking tired of being sick, coming up on the end of month 3. BALLS.

I actually hate mangos for that very reason, and I tell everyone I am allergic to them.

I mean, I *am* allergic to mangos.

Congrats on the win! Are you looking for subjects to photograph as well? If so, Caitlin and I would volunteer.

Remember, even when there are few jobs available in a chosen profession, doesn't mean you won't find work. If you're good--and you are--and pleasant to work with--and you are--you can be successful. So don't let limited job availability keep you from following your dream. I will never know if I would have been a great interior designer today or not because I didn't have the confidence in myself to pursue it once I heard it was a tough field to crack into. I've always regretted that.

I agree, I LOVE Elise's long picture posts. I will happily grab a sip of something and spend 15 minutes pouring over a photo entry.

And, Annon- you should still consider interior design! A tough field to crack simply means that you have to be awesome at what you do and driven at the same time. If you're willing to work hard, you really can make anything happen.

I would but I am 43 now and 22 years into another career, not to mention deep underwater in a mortgage that I can't get out from under, and trying to get a BA that will take forever to earn. Can't follow dreams unless I win the lottery or something else fabulous happens to free me up!! But to all you young-uns who don't have dependents yet, you shouldn't let anything hold you back.

Once I discovered frozen mangoes, I have ditched the fresh ones. You never, ever have to deal with peeling or chopping or unripe or overripe. They're always perfect!

That is such a nice door prize. Have fun with it!

Want me to connect you with our photographer friend Dan for conversation and tips on how he uses his studio time?
He's the guy who does most of Walking Shadow's production photos. He's also laid up following knee surgery, so he might be keen for some chatting.

Manoges!

They are such a sexy fruit. And once you figure out the 'right' way to cut them, they aren't so difficult to deal with. There's a way to figure out where the big pit is by looking at the stem and the line on the opposite end. Then cut parallel to that line about one cm to each side of that line. Once you have the halves on either side of the big pit, slice the fruit into cubes inside the outer skin with perpendicular cuts. Turn the skin inside out - presto! Delicious mango cubes!

Notboyfriend and I always go hunting for mangoes wherever we are.
