I found this an interesting perspective, perhaps because I've of late bought a big chunk of the Beatles's music; looking at Yellow Submarine from a "weird cartoon" perspective is a bit different. I did see the movie years ago, but could certainly stand to do it again.

Connecting the movie to a general "transformation of celebrities into fictional heroes" is somehow a way of looking at it I hadn't quite thought about before. So far as a "lack of characterisation" goes, though, it does somehow make me think the "non-music" voice acting was actually done by other people; I can see how bringing that up, though, could easily amount to a "faux shock."
