Career Paths In-Game

Sep 16, 2006 17:01

This is our present list of current players and their careers. If you are a current player and your career changes, please reply to this entry so we can update the information.

A NOTE ON CAREERS:
We LOVE it when players come up with their own plotlines and ideas for their characters in the game, and we totally encourage this. We also don't want anyone to feel 'copied' or have any stepping-on-of-toes, and so we, as the Admin Team, will do our best not to accept several characters in the same general 'career path', in order to encourage diversity.

With that in mind, please note that we already have characters in the following job-roles. This does not mean that you cannot have your character be in a similar job or role, but you should consider speaking with the player whose character is already in a similar position so as not to contradict or copy what he/she is already doing. Also, please be aware of who should know whom in regards to people working at the same place! *grin*

Healers:
Ginny Weasley started the Training Program after the completion of the war and is working extensively with Severus Snape in the lycanthropic research. She is now nearly finished with the official training, and has opened a very clandestine Werewolf 'clinic' beneath the twins' newest Hogsmeade branch of Weasley's Wizarding Wheezes.

Herbologists:
Neville Longbottom works in the Greenhouses at St. Mungo's and is beginning to make a name for himself.

Pub Owners/workers:

The Leaky Cauldron:
Seamus Finnigan worked at The Leaky Cauldron for years, but has recently opened his own Wizarding Sports Pub, Finnigans. This player is also 'in charge' of organising the Quidditch matches and writing the sports article on the match, as well as handling our Hogwarts games.

Imp's Inn in Edinburgh:
Stephen Stebbins is barman here when he is not needed at his House Coaching position for Hufflepuff's Quidditch team.

Finnigan's Sports Pub:
Hannah Abbott is helping with public relations and advertising.
Owned and run by Seamus Finnigan with help from his wife.

Other Shops:

Pet Shop/Veterinary 'clinic' for Magical creatures--Aurin Helm, MWPP era Ravenclaw owns a shop in Diagon Alley.

Book Shop in Diagon Alley - Charlotte Finnigan, nee Aurlis, MWPP era OC from France

Joke Shop - The Weasley twins, of course, though Ron also works for them as does Hannah Abbott at the moment.

Photography Studio:

Freelance Photography:
Susan Bones (though she is presently working for Charlotte's bookshop, being unable to find photography work.)

Charlie Weasley has given up Dragons for art work and does commissioned paintings.

Musicians:

Quidditch Players:

Katie Bell plays professional Quidditch for the Hollyhead Harpies and is Gryffindor House Head Coach

Other Wizarding Sports:

Professional Dueling Leagues:

Journalists:
Luna helps her father at the Quibbler
Seamus Finnigan's player 'handles' our Quidditch - sports news.

Authors:
Marcus Belby is a self-employed (freelance, he basically just tosses his services out on the market to whoever wants to hire him as long as they pay) chronicler of non-fiction.

This includes: biographies, war research, redemption novels, heroic accounts, newspaper articles and columns (on occasion), and anything non-fictional you'd like to think of.

Potions Masters:
Severus Snape

Aurors:
Tonks has been an Auror for several years, both during and, now, after the war.

Aurin Helm was an Auror during the war, but left the field to open his shop. With the recent rise in dark activity and shortage of Aurors, Aurin has come back on a part-time, contractual basis while continuing to oversee his shop.

Legal and Political Careers:
Dean Thomas is a Legal Assistant at the firm of Jackson, Bingley, and Drake in Diagon Alley

General Bureaucracy:
Draco Malfoy has recently begun looking into and preparing for the career of conveyancing. He likely hasn't done much with it yet, but he's spent the last few weeks realizing it would be a good thing. So he is going to be "in process."

Ministry Workers:

Gringotts
Bill Weasley - desk job, canon

Working in the Muggle World:
Hannah Abbott - does 'fortune telling' for Muggles using methods the Ministry approves for Muggle consumption - she has stopped this at the moment related to the savage vandalism of her shop at Christmas time. Presently she is working at Weasleys Wizarding Wheezes

Faculty and Staff at Hogwarts

Positions with active Muns:

Severus Snape is Potions Master and Slytherin Head of House
June Connors is his assistant.
Remus Lupin is DADA Professor and Gryffindor Head of House
Hermione Granger is his assistant.
Stella Sinistra is Astronomy Professor
Katie Bell is Gryffindor House Coach
Stephen Stebbins Hufflepuff House Coach

Please see the section regarding staff appointments at the school on our available characters list. Where possible, we have left canon teachers in their roles, but we have also created 'Teacher's Assistant' positions for players who would like to have their characters involved in careers at the school.

At the present time, there are 'openings' for assistants in the following positions:

Caretaker (work with Filch)
Assistant Librarian (work with Pince) -
Grounds Keeper (work with Hagrid)
Herbology Teacher's Assistant (work for Sprout)
Arithmancy Teacher's Assistant (Work for Vector)

Hogwarts Quidditch Program Positions!
Please see the topic about Hogwarts Reorganisation under Headmistress McGonagall so these will make sense.
Slytherin House Coach
Ravenclaw House Coach

Please assume these 'coaches' have been present and active since the start of the term if you apply for a character in a coaching job!
