A/N: OP, I hope this is okay. I decided to build it so that the people are primal with animalistic aspects, but not necessarily werewolves or anything specific. I have the rest of it in my head but I wanted to post something because I’m already later than I said I would be. Sorry for the delay. OP, I'm taking a stab at this, but I have a question. How long does a heat typically last? Hours? Days? Weeks?

Also, is this based on some existing genre conventions I should know about? Or can I just write based on general alpha/omega traits?

OP here. I've read fics where heat lasts for a day, several days, a week, or even a month so I really don't have a preference and it's up to you to decide how long it should last.

IIRC SPN fandom came up with the whole human knotting trope, but afaik there are no strict genre conventions re: alpha/omega traits. My favorite is this one from spn blindfold: There are three types of men, alpha males, beta males, and omega males. Alpha males are like any ordinary guy with the exception of their cocks, they work just like canines (the knot, tons of cum, strong breeders, etc) The beta male, is an ordinary guy without the special cock. Omega males are capable of child bearing and often called bitch males., but I've also read fics with different takes on the trope, e.g.: there are no betas, only alphas and omegas; male omegas can go into heat but can't get pregnant; alpha is the one who gets knotted; the alpha turns into his wolf form when knotting the omega; omegas get into heat once every few years
